Dawn of a new day

The lobby was strangely dead at 9pm, but maybe there was a holiday I chose not to remember. The main elevator was closed, the screen indicated my suite. When I stabbed the pad to life, an error appeared on the screen. Paying it no mind, I took the stairs—I really had no desire to go see Andrew's little boy again.
Just the idea of him having more I could not—I had to swallow another load of non-existent bile. The urge to vomit lingering. I took my time at first; the floors going by slowly. I thought it was odd that if the main elevator was out, there should be security traversing the floors.
Something was happening here. I took a deep breath, shaking off my senses I tried to feel out anything odd. The transformation shock seemed to have lessened, but my senses still lacked power. I picked up speed, making it to the top in a blink.
