Falling into place
Drew POV
The rain wouldn't relent. The drive home was treacherous, but we made it. When I pulled into the drive, I opened the garage so we could avoid getting rained on. I almost never had to put my car in it, but it was a nice option. The light in the bedroom was still on, but the rest of the house was darkened. Gage had fallen asleep in his car seat pretty much right away, so I would need to carry him inside.
This feeling of dread would not go away.
I clumsily picked him up, trying to balance his little body on my shoulder, and carry in his duffle. The door to the garage was always locked, so I had to try to fish out the keys and locate the right one. After the 10th or so key, the door unlocked and opened, Kavi standing there with a smile. "Need some help?"
"Aye," I said, struggling to hold Gage higher on my shoulder. She grabbed the pack and I followed her quietly up the stairs.
