Thank god for the suffering
Drew POV
When the words spilled from her lips, I realized I had made her ask that question. When we showed up today, my heart was full of hope and happiness—there was too much to else happening, and I realized just how hard I fell—again. I felt like a bleedin' fool. The one thing I needed to not do, happened without me realizing it.
I choked on my words, trying to think of a way to put it in words. "I don't—" taking another breath, "I don't want it to be."
Her eyes welled with tears, she gasped. "Me either."
I leaned forward, pulling her down onto my lap. She buried herself in my chest, small sobs still coming from her. And in an instant, I knew I was in trouble. I pulled her to my lips, pressing her closer to me. "I love you."
