Out of nowhere
I snatched it out of his hand, putting it in my sweater pocket. "That's none of your business, sir. Better to be safe than sorry."
He went back to working, but the pep he had before was missing. Gage ran back into the room, waving his hands in the air, "Daddy, look, clean!"
When he approached him, Drew just smirked a little. "Good job, lad. Now, go to the living room and make sure there's room on the table. I will bring you some settings and you can set the table. How does that sound?"
The boy squealed in delight, running into the other room again. "Were you just trying to get him out of your hair?" I asked, lightheartedly still.
"Aye, better to keep him busy for a while. If I get real desperate, I let him clean things with mounds of soap so he can play in it for a while." He still didn't turn to look at me, he continued to sauté something.
