Chaos
Drew POV
She screamed, the line dropping shortly after. My heart raced instantly; I eagerly tapped the call button, but this time, it just rang until the voicemail picked up. Panicking, I pressed the button again. Another voicemail.
And just when you finally got the courage to say your piece.
This isn't my problem! She's a big girl and can take care of herself. She did fine without you for years. Don't go and play hero now; you've been that sucker too many times.
She's not your wife anymore.
Restless, I turned over, pressing my face into the sofa cushion. I pinched my eyes closed tightly, hoping the exhaustion would take over; there had to be some way to stop this urge to get involved. She fucking shat on me, yet I'm still craving her company?
I called the number again, leaving a simple voicemail. "Let me know if you're alright."
