Another dead end
Stace walked up almost as soon as he left. "Sorry I saw you guys leave, so I followed. Wow, that must have been awkward. Can you believe he's had a secret child all this time?"
"You knew?" I asked.
She slapped my arm. "You're the one that cut contact until recently. When you came here after Maddy disappeared, I didn't think that was time to tell you that your ex had a child now."
She sat down next to me, putting her arm around me. "His ex had the baby and never told him. She died, he ended up finding his son." I paused, smiling. "and he's happy. Which makes me feel a bit better about it."
"Sad he's still single. I mean, he's a hell of a man to step up like that for a kid he never asked for. You better get some of that while you're in town."
