When the time comes
It was still beautiful out as we walked slowly behind the line of children. It was a short walk, too familiar back in the day. "So, other than being a published author, anything else happening in your life?"
"Um, not really. I bought my apartment with the forward on the next story in the series. So, I've been just living. I go out, party, I've gotten big into martial arts these days."
He chuckled a bit at me. "You—martial arts?"
"Yes!" I laughed. "I found peace in beating the shit out of stuff and people, look!" The muscles on my arms were visible as I pulled up my sleeves. "I'll kick your ass next." I teased. He stared at some tattoos on my arms, now running a finger over the inscriptions as he stared.
"Wow, body art too. You really have changed." He put his hands in his pockets as he walked. The awkwardness in the air still.
