Removing the barrier
Kavielle POV
Sleeping next to Vincent was different than Drew. He was completely silent, no thumping of a heart when I laid against his chest, no breathing or snoring. The only movement was intentional, a stroke of my hair, a flex on his chest, pressing me harder to him. I thought maybe it would be weird, laying with an apparently dead body.
But it wasn't. I felt… at peace.
It probably helped that this connection between us always gave me a soothing vibration, and I always knew he was fine. God, what happened to me? I died to try to help Drew…
I died.
I felt a severe anxiety wash over me; I rolled away from him, tossing my legs over the edge of the bed. Without missing a beat, he moved up behind me, pressing himself against me. "What's wrong?"
