Moving forward
I stared at my phone for several hours, hoping his picture would appear on my screen. I hoped he would call or message, anything to know he was okay. But, I knew he wasn't okay.
I wasn't okay.
Madison had ordered take out, setting up the couch with blankets and treats, so I could wallow away my sorrows in food and tears. It was kind of her to think of me, but I wasn't ready to accept my fate. I couldn't just give up, not now any how.
"Kavi," she whispered, knocking lightly on the door, "we need to talk."
Please, just go away!
She came in and sat down next to me. I was bundled up in my cocoon of blankets, staring mindlessly at a book. I sat in my hobble, hoping things would just go back to normal. "I know you're still grieving, but you do know…"
"What?" I stared her down, hoping my eyes would shoot the appropriate amount of lasers at her.
