Three figures covered in the black mantles entered the long corridor, with the only light source being dimly glowing magical crystals placed along the walls at a regular interval. Both sides of the corridor were littered with heavy wooden doors battered with metallic sheets covered in glowing runes. The only opening in the doors were small barred windows in their upper half.
"They should be in the cells all the way in the back."
All three of them looked at each other and stepped forward, moving fast and quietly through the long hallway.
"Bang!" all three figures jumped up slightly when a loud bang came for the doors right next to them, "I know that you are not guards. Free me, and I will richly reward you!"
The figure with the spear waved at his companions, and all three of them continued walking forward, ignoring the loud voice.
"Free me, and I will give you more silver than you can count. *Bang*" the prisoner kept banging and shouting.
The loud noise soon woke up more inhabitants of the prison and lots of loud banging and shouts filled the corridor.
"Free me!"
"I am innocent!"
"Release me, or I will kill you and eat your face!"
The dwarf slammed his axe against one of the doors, "These idiots will alert all of the guards with so much noise; we need to hurry."
All three of them stopped walking and instead started to run through the corridor filled with banging.
Soon they reached the last few cells, "These are the cells mentioned on the forum. I hope they are online. I don't want to do this for nothing!"
A familiar voice came from one of the doors, "Damn it, of course. We are online. You mentioned this rescue operation on the forum."
Booba immediately stuck one of the keys into a keyhole and tried to turn it. Nothing happened. He quickly stuck another key and turned it, and the quiet click of a mechanical lock sounded before the doors opened with a screeching noise.
Three players immediately walked out. They had no weapons, just their clothing. Booba didn't wait for them and instead ran towards other doors, quickly unlocking them one by one.
More and more players kept coming out until their number reached twenty-three.
One with an eye-catching punk haircut walked forwards and shook his hand with all three figures in the mantles, "You definitely took your time."
One player in red mage robes, red hair and red eyes started to run toward the exit. Above his head was a nametag: "PyroFireFlame".
"Quit it. We need to run. Keep your courtesy for when we reach safety."
The group of players looked at the pyromaniac and quickly ran behind him like a herd of wild cows.
Suddenly when they reached the exit, the player in red abruptly stopped, "Fuck!"
When the rest of the players reached the entrance, they quickly noticed what was wrong. A large group of soldiers stood at the square. Their weapons pointed at the players, and moonlight reflected from their shiny helmets.
A soldier with a helmet decorated with feathers walked forwards with a grin on his face, "We know that nature of your kind is to cause trouble. The baron already expected that some of you would try to free your compatriots. It was a trap, and you fell for it like idiots."
From a crowd of players walked out the figure in the black mantle with the magical staff in her hand. She pointed her staff towards the sky, smiling under her mask.
"What are you doing?" captain of the soldier looked confused and unsure what to do. Normally if she was a normal mortal being, he would threaten her with death to make her stop. However, he had no idea how to threaten someone immortal.
An orange flare launched from the staff's tip, flying up towards the sky, leaving a trail of colourful sparks behind it. It quickly reached the sky and exploded in a big colourful firework followed by a short flash of light. The eyes of all soldiers and players focused on it, looking straight up.
"That was probably some kind of signal; quickly secure the perimeter!" the captain shouted, and a portion of the soldiers quickly turned back, watching their backs, expecting an ambush. Worry was visible on their faces as they imagined a swarm of immortals rushing at them from each side with a bloodthirsty expression on their faces. The fear kept only growing, causing some soldiers to tremble, creating a jingling sound in the otherwise quiet prison yard.
The quiet atmosphere shattered when a cold and deep voice from the dark sky sent strong vibrations through the air, "Mortals, release those who stood up for me, and my minions or I will turn you into the ash!"
POV Vesuvius:
The dragon kept howering high above the prison, hiding in the night sky, flapping his wings to hold himself up in the air. He kept looking at the soldiers down, suppressing his disgust towards his enemies.
"Burn them! Burn them! Turn them into ash! HAHAHA!" loud shouting of one person came from the ground. Vesuvius quickly found its source. It was easy as everyone down on the ground was looking at it. It was the player in red robes and with red hair.
"Shit, he wasn't even on the square during the fight... He is probably some maniac who was arrested before." The players quickly distanced themself from the freak in red.
LOMM was a superelastic game that attracted players with somewhat questionable hobbies, as the game environment allowed them to fully express their otherwise punishable and unacceptable behaviour.
As the player kept shouting, something awoke inside of his dragon heart.
