Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Tyr's Tower

Vesuvius flapped his wings, shooting to the sky, leaving the players behind on the ground. He grinned, letting a few drops of magma leak out of his mouth.

He was pretty confident that his acting was good, especially to the humans who had no idea about dragon's expressions, and the dark smoke surrounding him definitely helped too. However, he still knew that he had to keep players thinking that there really was a fire drake living in the mountains. He also already visited the site around the old lair and got rid of any evidence that could implicate him.

'Well, even if they somehow find out that there is currently no fire drake in the mountains, it will take them a while, especially with the witnesses of the three players from before. Well, in the worst-case scenario, I just bought a few extra days of safety.'

Most importantly, he realised that the extra time he got was precious and that he needed to use it to get as strong as possible and do that quickly. And to do that, he needed to find dungeons. Luckily for him, in LOMM, dungeons were relatively easy to find. Until now, he wanted to just slowly grind his level through hunting yetis in the mountains, but with the current situation, he had no choice but to go for a more dangerous but faster method of levelling.

He flapped his wings quickly, flying towards a dungeon he noticed during one of his flights but ignored.

In the lore of Lorenia, dungeons were defined as shrapnels of time and space that floated through the void until they anchored to the main world. They were different kinds of them; some were unstable, disappearing after the first clear, while others were more stable ones that existed permanently. They weren't just dark catacombs or other tunnels. They were instead small worlds by themself. Even a great historical event often could create shrapnel from time, creating their own dungeon forever archiving that event.

A beautiful green valley filled with trees spread before him. Tall mountains surrounded it from each side. However, the most noticeable landmark was a gaping black hole in the ground, with a visible stream of magical energy pulsing from its depths.

The dragon leaned downwards, diving straight towards the hole. The hole quickly got wider and bigger as he kept getting closer. Finally, his body passed the edge of the hole and dived straight into it, and a second later, he passed through some invisible boundary.

The world around him turned into a stream of lights. The light soon disappeared too, to be replaced by a brand new world.

The dragon was flapping his wings floating above the ground. He could only see a few kilometres to each side, and after that was only impenetrable blackness filled with nothing. The ground around him was bare and grey with no grass. Deep cracks were spread through it, making it look as if there had been no rain for decades. Everywhere his eyes could see were gravestones. Some were new and beautiful, while others were just old cracked stones.

A tall tower made out of dark grey stone was in the middle, reaching all the way towards the black sky. Even though there was no apparent light source, he could easily tell that there was a dim light evenly spread through the dungeon.

But most noticeable were hordes of undead moving through the barren lands. With his dragon sight, he could easily tell that most of them were just the lowest of undead, such as zombies and skeletons. However, he also spotted a few stronger undead.

'If I want to leave, I have to finish this dungeon... There is no retreat path for me.' his gaze fell towards the tower, 'Boss is most likely in the tower. I will leave it as last. If I can level before fighting the boss, it would be a great help.'

He quickly searched for a group of weaker undead, and he quickly found one. He dived straight toward them.

'I need to keep my mana reserve as full as possible for stronger enemies.'

The dragon landed straight into the group of zombies and skeletons like a fiery meteor, crushing a few of them under him.

'They are just cannon fodder to tire out invaders.'

Zombies and skeletons mindlessly threw themself against the dragon, ignoring the massive differences in strength. Vesuvius swept his tail, shattering incoming skeletons and sending zombies flying.

Few zombies got close enough, their weak bodies slowly burning from the heat radiating out of the dragon. They threw themself at the dragon's body with open mouths. They bit at the hard, blazing hot black armour with all their strength. Their teeth were shattering, and their faces were burning into unrecognition. Vesuvius swung his tail and swung his front legs ended in sharp claws, simultaneously cutting and crushing the undead. Blood and bone shrapnels scattered through the air as the massive force behind the dragon devasted the already rotting bodies of the undead.

The dragon used his powerful hind legs like a spring, launching himself across the undead, his armoured body steamrolling through them and crushing them.

Few remaining undead threw themself against the dragon again without any fear, their eye burning in ethereal blue flames. They bit and swung their arms and legs at the armour, getting burns all over their bodies.

Vesuvius turned towards them and swung his claws at them, cleaving them through their torsos. Their torsos get cut in half, their organs spilling out. However, the undead kept moving forwards toward the dragon. Slowly crawling, using their arms to move forward.

Vesuvius frowned, 'So annoying... However, I must clean the mobs first if I don't want to get swarmed during the fight against tougher enemies.'

The dragon jumped towards the crawling zombies, stomping at them with his massive legs.

"Squash!" massively armoured legs fell upon the zombie crushing him into a bloody paste.

Vesuvius kept stomping, crushing more and more of the undead, creating a disgusting puddle of viscerals, blood and bones.
