Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: Master of Life

The dragon with smoke all around him landed close to the crystal clear lake, each swap of his wings sending ripples through its calm surface. He opened his mouth, and an earth-shattering growl came out, sending waves through the nearby lake.

More growls came from all directions around him, at least a dozen reptilian eyes turning at him. All of the wyverns close to the lake immediately flapped their wings and took into the air, flying toward the smoking dragon. All small animals in the surrounding immediately ran away or entered their burrows.

All of the wyverns landed around the dragon. Invisible pressure spread from the dragon, sending shivers through the bodies of the wyverns and making them lower their head in submission. The dragon grinned, letting the hot magma leak out of his mouth and drop on the stones under him where it loudly sizzled, 'It looks like I can really easy dominate lesser draconic species. However, I doubt that I can dominate higher draconic species like wyrms that are intelligent as easily as these animal-like ones.'

The dragon looked at wyverns, and weird ideas formed in his head, 'Can I feed them my blood? Will they turn into something new?'

Vesuvius bit his tongue and put his clawed hand under his head, letting the blood slowly leak out and create a small pool in his hand. All wyverns around him sniffed and started to squirm, their muscles tense as if they wanted to leap at the dragon.

Soon the biggest wyvern rushed forwards at the dragon, moving extremely fast on all four with its muscular hind legs and front limbs merged with wings. As it entered the dark smoke surrounding the dragon, the sound of lightning crackling came as the electricity passed through the wyvern, causing it to stop. Vesuvius angrily swept his armoured tail and hit the incoming wyvern into its hind legs. The wyvern staggered as its legs stumbled on the dragon's tail and rolled through the ground, making a dust cloud rise. It looked upwards, wanting to stand up again, but the tail smacked it from upwards, pinning it to the ground. The wyvern squealed in pain as the hot surface of the tail burned its body, creating an ugly sizzling noise. The dragon lifted his tail, letting the wyvern squeal on the ground as the electricity kept sparkling on it.

Vesuvius wanted to feed the wyverns anyway, but he couldn't allow such disrespect.

All of the wyverns immediately calmed down, pressing their heads on the rocky ground as they realised the strength of the dragon in front of them.

The cold voice of the dragon sounded through the surroundings, "You three come forward!". The dragon looked at three random wyverns as he outstretched his blood-covered hand forward. The smoke around him moved away from his hand, revealing it to the wyverns.

The three grey wyverns moved forwards through the path through the dark smoke that the dragon created, their reptilian eyes shining at the sight of his hand as their animal-like brains instinctually understood the dragon's intent.

The three wyverns brought their snouts towards the blood and sniffed it. Immediately as if they went insane, they started to gulp down the blood, a dim red glow spreading all over their grey, scaly bodies.

Vesuvius retracted his hand, causing the wyverns to growl angrily, but they didn't dare to move forward. His eyes fell upon the wyverns, intently watching the changes that were happening to them.

A bright red glow surrounded them as their bodies started to bulge, growing in size. Then their scales started to change, becoming bigger and rougher while also changing their colour into a black one with a slight red gleam as the sun reflected in them. A pair of long curled horns tore through the scales on their heads as they quickly grew out. Their claws prolonged, turning from a bones-like material into a more shiny metal-like material. Then the claws of two wyverns turned hot, glowing like a heated iron, and lighting started to crackle through the claws of the last wyvern forming small arcs surging through them. Then a molten stone started to pour out of the two wyverns with fiery claws, quickly cooling down and forming black volcanic armour with cracks filled with magma around them. Lighting crackled even more on the third wyvern, its whole body sparkling with blue electricity. Finally, lightning surged out of one of the two armoured wyverns, crackling like the unarmored wyvern.

Vesuvius kept looking at it with wide eyes. He expected some change, but not their whole bodies changing into something different.

Finally, they stopped growing when they reached the size of one and a half van. Then the red glow vanished, revealing three beasts with wyvern wings merged with front limbs emitting their respective elemental powers.

Vesuvius's heart started to pound more as he realised how great a discovery it was, 'Normally, wyverns are without elemental affinities...'

Suddenly the system interrupted his thought.

Ding!

'Hell no!' Vesuvius quickly denied the request even though something in him still wanted to agree with it and confuse all players in the game. He snickered a little bit as he imagined players looking for some nonexistent player with the name Vesuvius who managed to get a world-class achievement.

Overall he was grinning like an idiot at the unexpected bonus. Luckily for him, his smoke perfectly hid it.
