Damien pulled his hands away from Charlotte's grip and took a step back. "Forgive me. I am tired of becoming a good person all the time," he said. His voice didn't waver saying those words.
"Why are you tired?" Charlotte wanted to know and demanded an answer from him. "Late Oliver Barnard might have not left any account of what happened that night. However, he did. Suzanne would not have come to you with the journal and later go to the King to prove your father's innocence. Don't be selfish, Damien. Also, if you keep doing this, you may lose me as a friend. I won't ever forgive you if you harmed Suzanne," she firmly asserted.
Damien furrowed his brows together. He heard Charlotte speak, "I know you are a person with great values. You have never disappointed me, Damien. I believe that you'll never do it."
He hummed in response. "I promise you. I will not harm Suzanne. I will try to be a good husband to her," Damien said while keeping his gaze away from her.
