Édouard decided to be a bit straightforward with Charles. "About Uncle Philip, you should tell me," he said.
"I joined in the year His Grace took birth," Charles replied. "The brothers were close, Your Grace. However, the differences started growing from the time when His Majesty found out that his brother behaved oddly around him. Since I was not appointed in the inner palace before that time so I know what I heard from the people around me," he stated.
"I see," Édouard said and asked him what kind of odd behavior Philip showed.
"Your Grace, that would be inappropriate for me to speak about. It is something between the two brothers, so His Grace does not need to know about it," Charles asserted.
"I would like to know, Charles," Édouard stated. "Damien's life depends on the truth I have to unveil. My father's reputation is involved with it," he said and asked the servants to go out of the drawing room. Now, only Édouard and Charles were present in the room.
