As Édouard stepped into the chamber, Charlotte stood up and gazed at him.
"Charles, you may leave," Édouard said.
Charles bowed and left the chamber. They heard the large doors shut. Édouard's feet remained glued at his place while he continued to stare at Charlotte.
He ran his fingers through his hair and then he walked to her to hug her tightly. He pulled her into his warm embrace. His hand rested on the back of her head and he closed his eyes.
Charlotte slowly lifted her hands and gripped his satin robe from the sides of his waist. No words were exchanged between them for a while.
Édouard pulled away and peered into her eyes. His thumbs wiped the tears from beneath her eyes. "Don't let her poisonous thoughts dwell in your mind," He said.
"You didn't harm her, right?" Charlotte was more worried about that.
"I will if she crosses her boundary the next time," Édouard said.
"Where is she?" Charlotte asked.
"She is thrown out of the palace," Édouard answered.
