"We will stay the night in this house tonight," Édouard told Charlotte. He glanced at Rainard and asked him to take care of the other things.
Charlotte lifted her head and walked ahead. Using the spiral wooden stairs, she reached upstairs and looked inside the empty room. "It is such a small bed," she murmured.
"Good for us," Édouard whispered in her ear and she promptly tilted her head to gaze at him.
"Isn't there another empty room? I will sleep there," Charlotte asked.
"There isn't any," Édouard answered. "The soldiers are many. They also need to sleep. Moreover, we are husband and wife. We should sleep in the same room, at the same bed," he said and tucked the loose hair behind her ear.
He walked in while Charlotte followed him. He made her sit on the leather sofa chair and removed the overcoat that he had worn. Then, he settled on the mattress of the bed.
