What Heisuke was nervous about didn't happen. In fact, his mother had regained her vitality.
When the lovebirds got nearer to the gate of the apartment yard, they found Mrs. Saeki crouching in front of the vegetable garden. There was a plastic basket on the ground where she put the vegetables that she plucked.
"Mom! Why are you down here?"
Startled, Heisuke quickly asked. He quickened his steps, prompting Hisaki to do the same.
Mrs. Saeki glanced behind her shoulders. Her eyes fell on the figures of her son and his lady. A smile instantly glowed on her face, showing how pleased she was by seeing them.
"What else do you see? I'm picking some vegetables," Mrs. Saeki cradled the basket in her right arm. She slowly got up, "I feel like eating steamed rice with vegetables only. No mood for anything else. Oh, why do you guys come back so early? It's just noon."
