Unlike the previous days, the sky was brighter. Streaks of light illuminated the calm stream of the river, giving off sparkles on the surface. Half of the sun appeared behind the heavy masses of gray clouds.
Hisaki and Heisuke took careful steps on the wet grass patches. They walked and walked and walked yet, none of them cracked the silence.
Until they reached a shady tree where they used to sit together before.
"The police..."
"How about..."
Stunned, they looked into each other's eyes. Hisaki broke into giggles while Heisuke only smiled faintly.
"The bench is damp," Heisuke directed his gaze to the bench standing under the tree, "We couldn't sit down."
"Nevermind. Why don't we just continue walking?" suggested Hisaki.
Heisuke swiftly agreed.
They walked away from the tree. Their fingers interlinked their hands together, seeping warmth under their skins.
Heisuke took a glimpse of Hisaki beside him.
