Heisuke put the short encounter with Kousuke to the back of his mind. He didn't even tell Hisaki about it, not wanting to anger her. He knew too well how much his lady despised Kousuke after the man's previous stunts.
The next weekend, Heisuke and Hisaki went to Mr. Hokama and Mrs. Saeki's matrimonial home at noon.
The engaged couple was called by Mr. Hokama as the middle-aged man said he had something important to tell them.
All four of them sat in the living room. They just had lunch together some time ago.
Because the sliding door was opened, the summer breeze blew inside the house, rustling the flower petals and leaves in its wake. When the gust hit on the glass wind chime, the distinctive ringing sound echoed.
Mrs. Saeki served them a huge bowl of chilled watermelon. The red and juicy fruit was cut into smaller pieces, a perfect treat for a hot summer day.
