The gates to the red colony were
approaching, we all watched as we flew higher and
faster. Riya slowly began to trust the dragon and
Maya could be seen spreading her hands as if she
felt free.
Black Fae were the only ones who didn't
have wings but they made up for it through their
strength. I watched as Riya began to slowly lay her
hand on it and stroke it softly, "you're not so bad
after all, are you?" she says then closes her eyes. I
felt at ease knowing I didn't have to use my wings
for the next few days, meaning it would get a better
chance to heal.
"There it is." Zed points towards the gates of
the red colony, we all turn our direction and look
above. The dragon began to make some noise
which I indicated was out of fear.
"It's okay girl, I promise I won't let the red
heads get to you." Maya says gently stroking its
neck. "What do you mean?" I ask in confusion. "We
red Fae are known to do shady business, we
usually snatch and sell." At that moment I realized
that my father, the king…. Lied to me so much. He
always told me wonderful things about Zagoroth
saying how no one dreamed of stealing because
everything was given to them just at the tip of their
tongues all they had to do was ask.
" so?? What's that got to do with this
dragon?" I ask.glaring at Ben, wondering if we
really are friends now or if he still hates me. "This
includes... dragons. It's not our fault though, the
king…" he says glaring daggers at me before
continuing, " he promised to keep us all safe and
well fed, but he failed to do his job and many red
heads were dying of hunger. We had to do what we
thought was best in order to survive."
I let out a sigh, afraid to look Ben in his eyes
and face the reality of living a perfect life behind the
walls of the castle. I never knew life outside those
walls was hard for so many people. "We should
name it." Maya blurts out pulling me from my deep
thoughts.
"Okay sure…." Riya agrees and Zed nods to
admit he also wants to name it. "What do you think
would be a fitting name for it Maya?" I ask to feel
involved.
"How does Flavia sound?" we all looked at
Maya as she nodded her head staring deep into its
eyes, "yes, she likes the name. From now on your
name is Flavia." she continued before the dragon
gave out a sound almost as a giggle.
"It's a girl? That explains its fragile attitude."
Ben lets out before Flavia huffed and wagged her
tail hard enough to knock Ben off, he began to fall
and quickly managed to spread his wings.
He was forced to fly the rest of the way as
Flavia didn't allow him to sit on her again.
This gave us all a hard laugh, I soon shifted
my gaze towards Maya who had a unique gift when
it came to dealing with animals, and I just realized
that after watching her with Flavia.
We were finally at the gates, and Flavia was
hesitant to go in. "It's because she escaped from
here." Ben says trying to win Flavia's trust, he knew
Red Fae set a bad example for her, "I Promise i'll
do my best to keep you safe." he strokes Flavia's
hair on her head and she in return cuddles him,
allowing her to sit on her again.
"Here goes nothing." I let out with a long
sigh, as Flavia rose from on top of the big red iron
gates and began her way across.
It was odd as she was slowing down, her
speed decreased compared to how fast we were
flying in the purple colony. "You okay buddy?" Riya
asked, stoking her hand gently on Flavia, she
began to make slight sounds moaning as if she was
in pain.
"She's looking for her mother." Maya
answered for her, "she lost her mother during a
trade here in the red colony."
"Oh my!" Riya let out, and a strong thought
popped into my mind. We were already a day
early…. This meant we had a day to spare, which
also meant we could help her find her mother.
"Don't worry Flavia, we'll help you find her." I
placed my hand on her head before telling Maya,
"ask her to take us where she ast saw her mother."
Maya gave me a big smile and began to whisper in
her ear.
Flavia turned her direction towards the
south and began to fly slowly increasing her speed,
this was the first time I looked down into the red
colony. It looked as if someone spilled blood all
over the floor. The color of the Fae made it seem
that way.
The buildings looked as if they were really
old, there were no colors.. Not even red on them.
Graffiti everywhere and it looked as if it was a rural
area.
I couldn't believe that my father could be so
cruel, how could he have let this happen. I thought
to myself as I saw the conditions of the red colony.
Each and every Fae had the right to live a happy
and peaceful life, without having to rely on stealing
just to get food. All of this was too much to bear, I
shifted my gaze up and tried my best to avoid
looking down while Flavia took us towards another
forest, and began to glide down.
"I think her mother is here." Maya let out a
faint whisper loud enough for us all to hear.
"No one, make a sound." Flavia said in a
hush tone, our jaws dropped upon realizing she
could speak. My eyes were big as if they would pop
right out of their socket, "yo..you could…" Riya
began to stutter, "speak…" Zed Finished her
sentence pointing towards her.
I was too shocked to even speak, "shh."
Flavia said this time in a lower voice, "my mother is
trapped in those mountains by some bad fae."
Ben started to say something but I Was
completely out of it and couldn't hear him, his voice
was like a bugging in my ear.
She could talk… this whole time… she
…could….TALK!
