Chapter 21 - Unveiled truths

Everything was heard by Sophia and Olivia and they were so shocked. She went there and slapped Elisa and said, "I knew you were wretched, but I didn't expect you to be a heartless monster. How could you do that to Sarah? You won't get away with this."

Olivia added, "How could you? You tried to kill Sarah just to save your own skin and then ran away like a coward. You're going to pay for this. The truth is out now, and you won't get away with it."

Without wasting time Sophia stormed into the classroom, dragging Elisa behind her. The door slammed shut, causing everyone to jump in their seats. Sarah, already present and visibly shaken, looked up, her eyes filled with both anger and pain.

Sophia's voice was fierce and commanding. "Listen up, everyone! I'm here to expose Elisa for who she really is. She's the one who tried to kill Sarah and then ran away from the scene, leaving her to suffer!"

Gasps and murmurs filled the room as the students absorbed the shock of the revelation. Sarah's eyes locked onto Elisa with a mix of fury and disbelief.

Elisa's face went pale as she stammered, "Sophia, it's not what it looks like—"

"Don't you dare try to twist this!" Sophia interrupted sharply. "You acted with complete disregard for Sarah's life. You thought you could escape the consequences by running away. You're a heartless coward."

Sarah's voice was raw, cutting through the tension. "I've always known we didn't get along, but this? You're a monster for what you did. You left me in that state, thinking only of yourself."

Elisa's shoulders slumped as the weight of Sarah's words and the classroom's intense gaze bore down on her. Her attempts to apologize were swallowed by the heavy silence.

Sophia turned to the class, her expression resolute. "We're going to ensure that Sarah receives the support she needs and that Elisa faces justice for her actions. This is not something we can overlook."

The classroom was filled with a charged silence as the reality of the situation set in, leaving everyone grappling with the gravity of what had just been revealed.

Their class teacher came and Sophia uttered everything to her.The teacher said I will talk with the parents of both . You all now just focus on your studies.

Meanwhile at Sarah's home as the cops were unable to find any clue about the accident Sarah's dad got furious and threatened the cops to bring the culprits in front of him otherwise he will not leave anyone.

The teacher called both of the girls parents and asked them to come to principal's office.

Until the parents came the teacher talked to Elisa and told her the consequences of what she did.

The air in principal's office was thick with tension, so palpable it seemed to hang in the small, sterile room. The Sarah's parents sat stiffly across from her, their faces hard, lines of stress etched deeply into their features. Sarah, her expression unreadable, sat between them, her hands clenched in her lap. Elisa stood nearby, her gaze fixed on the floor, as if the weight of the world rested on her young shoulders. Her parents flanked her, desperation written across their faces.Ms. Rehana leaned forward, her voice steady but filled with an underlying gravity.

Ms. Rehana

"Thank you for coming. I wish it were under different circumstances, but we've uncovered something critical about the accident—something that needs to be addressed immediately."

Mrs.Mitchell's eyes narrowed, her voice sharp and edged with a mother's fury.

Mrs. Mitchell

"Just tell us, Ms. Rehana. What is it? We've been through hell, and we deserve to know the truth.

Mr. Mitchell's tone, deep and simmering with barely controlled rage, followed.

Mr. Mitchell :

"Whatever it is, we need to hear it now. No more evasions."

Rehana exhaled, her gaze shifting to Elisa, who visibly flinched. When she spoke, her words were measured.

"We've learned that Elisa was the one who hit Sarah with the stone after the accident. It wasn't just panic—it was a desperate, thoughtless act. But that doesn't change the seriousness of what happened."

For a moment, there was nothing but stunned silence. Then Mrs.Mitchell shot to her feet, her face pale, her voice trembling with a mix of shock and fury.

Mrs. Mitchell :

"Elisa? You? After everything we've done—everything we've been through—you tried to take my daughter's life? You left her there to die!"

Mr. Mitchell knuckles turned white as he gripped the armrests of his chair, his voice a low, dangerous growl.

Mr.Mitchell:

"She should be behind bars for this. Sarah nearly died because of her. This isn't just a mistake—it's a crime."

Elisa's parents moved quickly, their desperation spilling out in frantic pleas. Elisa's mother clutched at Mrs. Mitchell 's arm and begged. Elisa's Mother:

"Please, Mrs. Mitchell, we're begging you! Elisa made a terrible, terrible mistake, but she's just a child. Criminal charges will ruin her life forever. We're so sorry—please don't let this destroy her future."

Elisa's father, his voice thick with regret, added.

Elisa's Father:

"We know she's done wrong, and we'll do whatever it takes to make amends. But please, don't send her to prison. We're asking for mercy."

Mrs. Mitchell wrenched her arm away, her eyes blazing with fury. Her voice was cold, each word Mrs. Mitchell :

"Ruin her life? Your daughter almost ended Sarah's life! Do you understand that? She left her there, bleeding and unconscious, and then had the audacity to cover it up. How can you stand there and ask us for mercy?"

Mr. Mitchell's anger flared hotter, his voice cutting through the room like a whip.

Mr.Mitchell:

"Mercy? After what she did? Elisa deserves to face the law, and don't think for a second that we'll just forgive and forget. Our daughter almost died because of Sarah, who had been silent until now, raised her head. Her voice, though soft, was firm, carrying a quiet strength.

Sarah:

"Mom, Dad… I've known it was Elisa for a while. I didn't say anything because I knew you'd be furious. But prison… prison isn't the answer. It will ruin her life completely, and I don't want that on my conscience."

Mrs. Mitchell turned to Sarah, her anger mixed with disbelief.

Mrs. Mitchell :

"Sarah, she's been nothing but trouble for you. She betrayed you in the worst possible way. How can you even think of letting her off so Mr. Mitchell, his voice still laced with anger, added.

Mr. Mitchell:

"She deserves to pay for what she did, Sarah. Don't let her walk away from this without facing real consequences."

Sarah shook her head, her resolve unwavering despite the storm around her.

Sarah:

"I don't want to destroy her life. I want her to face consequences, but not ones that will haunt her forever. Let's suspend her and revoke her scholarship—but don't send her to prison. Ms. Rehana, sensing the raw emotions in the room, stepped in carefully, her voice calm but firm.

Ms. Rehana:

"I think Sarah's suggestion is fair. Elisa will be suspended, and her scholarship will be revoked. This will ensure she faces significant consequences without having her future completely destroyed."

Elisa's parents, tears streaming down their faces, turned to Sarah, their voices filled with choked gratitude.

Elisa's Mother:

"Thank you, Sarah. We don't deserve your kindness, but we are so incredibly grateful . Elisa's Father:

"We promise, she will learn from this. We will make sure she understands the gravity of what she's done and that she doesn't take your mercy for granted."

Mrs. Mitchell, though still furious, nodded slowly, her voice tight with emotion.

Mrs. Mitchell:

"If this is what Sarah wants, we'll support it. But make no mistake—Elisa needs to understand how serious this is. We expect her to show real remorse, not just words."

Mr. Mitchell, still simmering, finally gave a smirk Mr Mitchell:

"Fine. But she's getting off easy, and I hope she knows that. This could have been much worse for her."

Sarah, feeling the weight of the decision but also a sense of relief, nodded back.

Sarah:

"Thank you. I just want to move on from this and heal."

Ms. Rehana stood, signaling the end of the meeting, her tone firm as she spoke.

"We'll enforce the suspension and revoke the scholarships immediately. It's crucial that everyone involved learns from this and that we move forward in a way that ensures this never happens again."

As the group left the office, the tension still hung in the air, but there was a sense of resolution. The Mitchell's were determined to protect their daughter, yet Sarah's decision had allowed for a path forward that, while painful, avoided complete devastation for Elisa.
