Chapter 6 - Chapter ??? - Author's note

Hello to the very few readers I've managed to amass during the time I've wrote 'Killer Instinct'.

It's been a wonderful first week of writing; I've gotten out one chapter a day for five days straight. And then I failed to upload two days in a row.

I would just like to inform you all that there is no issue, and the novel will continue to upload almost every day. The reason I haven't the last few days and still won't for somewhere around a week is that I am on vacation.

I like to add a few things to clarify what is going on in the story. Consider this a recap/wrap-up of the first arc in the story.

Julio is the brother of Rio. He did not die in the first chapter. He killed Rio and stole both his identity and power. (He will be referred to as Rio for the rest of this note). 'Rio' now lives a humble life as 'Homeland Defense' (AKA superhero). Through a traumatic first fight and a lot of self-reflection, he realizes that people with powers are inherently bad people. (Including himself). He believes that he should eliminate all powered individuals, becoming a symbol of fear for Enabled (Super-powered people). His ultimate goal is to make Disabled and Enabled equal by taking away all the power from Enabled. The fourth and fifth chapters are the two-part finale of the arc. In this 4000-word, two-part finale, Rio makes his first ever appearance as Rogue, the unregistered Enabled who reportedly possesses several abilities. In these first two chapters, he gains information about some large gangs in the city, stopping a weapons deal (which provides him with plenty of news attention in the next arc) and killing a young gang leader. This opens up a follow-up to the gang storyline, as the gang leader he kills has a family who leads and opposing gang. (This may or may not become part of the next arc ;D). That about sums up Rio's story.

As for his power(s), here's the wrap up.

Telekinesis:

While it can do the basic 'floaty shit', it is all purpose. It acts as a general invisible force. Imagine a big invisible hand. It can form a barrier to block attacks, seal someone inside of it (and crush them) or propel someone. the user can create a pushing force below them to jump higher, a pushing force behind them to accelerate them (and maybe faceplant), and even a pushing force above them to flatten themselves (not recommended). When doing simple tasks, like a small force, lifting something light, or something of that nature, it can be controlled mentally. However, strong forces like the ones that flattened the man in chapter two, or the one that flung King in chapter five require hand gestures. A push can create a devastating blast of blunt force, a swipe can knock something out of someone's hands, and a punch can, well, punch.

Energy Manipulation (hands):

Allows the user to summon raw energy to their palms, and nowhere else. Energy isn't a real definition of what it is, but there is no word to describe the projectiles that are formed by this ability. So, I called it energy. It bright, big, and cool! (BBC). It can be manifested through concentration and doesn't deplete the user of very much stamina. It is a blunt force attack when charged to a small degree, hitting like a truck. When concentrated, it forms into a smaller but deadlier pinpoint beam. This beam also hits like a truck, but a very small one. The user can choose not to discharge the energy, leaving it around their hands and creating a makeshift brass knuckle. This technique is used by both Rio and King in their fight in chapter four.

Energy manipulation (Feet):

This one is short. Take all the info from before and paste it here. A few differences; instead of shooting projectiles, it shoots bursts of energy from anywhere on the foot, top to bottom. These have very little range, but far more power. We see this when a blast of energy disintegrates a man's skull (ouch). These bursts can also propel a user by the feet, allowing them to add force to their kicks by shooting a burst out of the kicking foot. It can also increase jump height along with speed.

By combining this with the hand aspect, a user can fight with both their hands and feet being exponentially stronger due to energy control, and they will also be faster to match. This will most likely become Rio's bread and butter in the future.

Well, that's it! Thanks for reading my novel this far, and please vote for it with a power stone. Or leave a review; it takes around 20 seconds and only needs 50 letters. Just type the ABCs twice. Or add it to your collection. Or do all of them! Please. Pretty please? Thanks again, and Killer Instinct will return soon.
