[Back in the MC'S view]
I went back to the room I woke up and took the glass speher back with me. Now I sat on a wooden taple just staring at the gap between the sphere an its base.
"So how does this magic stuff work?" I asked myself. I grabbed a sheet of paper. "What shall I write with?" was the next question because I didn't see something to write. "Then I'll just have to try". I looked at my hand like I was expecting something to happen and after a few seconds a black marker appeared in my hand. But it liked like the ones used in modern schools. "Creating matter from nothing? On more thing I have to find out more about."
I leaned back and started to think. "I need some basic assumption to use as a base." I thought for a few minutes until the idea plooped into my mind. It was the law of conservation of energy. "Let's try that. Let's just asume magic is a form of energy. next is how does that shit work?"
I wrote down everything I just thought about and also wrote down a few things I wanted to try. I played a little bit with the marker in my hands until I managed to make it float above my hand. At first I had to try to controll it but after half a minute I was slowly able to controll where the pen was going to. I then tried to let the pen float around the table and land back in my palm.
It worked but I almost lost control of the pen two times. My conclusion from this was: "Magic is able to change the potential energy of things and also change their velocity. I assume that magic is able to transform itself in any other form of energy and this very specifically and controlably."
After writing down some notes I directly changed my focus on the pen. "An it also seems like with enough magic one is able to create matter out of energy". I thought further. "Wouldn't it be able to use magic to transform things from one to another as long as they have a similiar structure?"
Wile thinking I played with a book letting it hover around my head. I read the title "Potions". After reading that I opened the book and was dissapointed. It wasn't a book on how to make potions but rather a book of stories about witches making potions.
-------------------------------------
An hour later
I felt like my mind was exploding. In this book there were about 100 different methods that made absolutely no sense together with all the things I assumed so far. "Are all my theories wrong?. Why should only be human hearts and eyes and that stuff be able to be turned into potions. Thy don't really have that much in common according to their structure.
Again I leaned back in my chair thinking how it would be to loose all the progress I had made so far. While my eyes roamed the room, I noticed another book with the title "how witches drain you life enrgy"
As soon as I read the word energy I was widly awake. "Of course. Maby in this world life force is also a kind of energy. That would work well with the stories about crying childrens eyes too. Maybe emotions can also be considered as energy.
After I send a small pryer to whover created the law of conservation of energy (I forgot who it was) I wrote down everything. "And now to the practical experiments" I stood up and looked around the room.
"Let's make a simple list for potion creating. "
--------------------------
-Decide what the potion shall do
-try to determine what ingredients you'll need
-gather all the ingredients needet
-make a potion
--------------------------
I looked on my list. "So what do I want to be my potion for?" I decidet to try something simple first. "Let's try to make a super fertilizer" I had the ideo while looking at a almost dead potted plant near the window.
"What could be the right ingredients for that? Normally something like nitrogen but in this world to. Maby I can just give the plant some life energy? But from what?" I slowly walked in a circle thinking about this question. Then I saw a small mouse sitting on my table nibbeling on my still open pen. "perfect" I thought.
