Qin Yan studied till late evening. Even if she was extremely talented, but because it had been many years, she needed to revise the high school material to cope up with her present situation.
Just as she completed her work, she heard knocking on the door. When she opened the door, she saw a servant standing outside.
"Madam has called you for dinner. Come to the dining room if you are done resting," the servant said arrogantly.
Because original Qin Yan had no place in the family and the servants saw how Lu Yaran treated her, they grew disrespectful towards her. They treated her as their assistant and many times delegated their own work to Qin Yan.
Qin Yan, being a weak-willed person, tolerated everything done to her. She thought that because she couldn't make her family proud of her, she should make some contribution in household chores. So, the work which should be done by a servant was done by the second miss* of Qin family.
But now the situation and the person both were different. Qin Yan glanced coldly at the servant. Her name was Wang Yinan and was around 23 years old now. She was brought by Lu Yaran from her maiden home and was treated specially. This made her grow arrogant and she thought that she was the head of all the servants.
She often mistreated other servant girls, mainly the ones prettier than her. She would find some or the other reasons to kick them out.
"Do not talk to me in this tone again. Otherwise, I won't mind shutting you up," Qin Yan said fiercely.
Wang Yinan got frightened by Qin Yan's attitude. Before she could contemplate the situation, Qin Yan walked past her and went straight to the dining room.
Qin Muran was already sitting in her seat. Lu Yaran was arranging the meal and Qin Yicheng was freshening up after returning from office.
When Qin Muran saw Qin Yan coming, she hurriedly pulled her to the seat next to her own, "Sister, I hope you remember that today you are going to talk to father about school. Sister, be brave, no matter what you want to do, I will always be with you."
After hearing Qin Muran, Qin Yan remembered what was going on. Apparantly, Qin Yan was often bullied at school. Moreover, she was not good at studying and barely passed. This affected the reputation of Qin family so Qin Muran instilled the idea in her mind that dropping out of the school would be a good idea.
She could prevent herself from being bullied and she should throw herself in household chores. This would also be a training for her to be a good wife after getting married.
What Qin Muran didn't tell her was that her remaining reputation will go down the drain if she dropped out. She would be labelled as uneducated scum for rest of the life. Also, in wealthy modern families, household chores were to be done by servants and mistress of the household was required to socialize and maintain the family's reputation, for which education was a prime aspect.
Breaking out of her thoughts, Qin Yan heard Qin Muran instructing her on how to carry the plan properly. 'Qin Muran, you are really too good at disguising yourself. No wonder the little girl was fooled by you.'
The disdain and disgust in Qin Muran's eyes were long been seen through by her. Before she could retort her, Qin Yicheng and Lu Yaran both came and took their respective seats. Lu Yaran gave Qin Yan an angry glance but she ignored the former. The food was served and everyone started eating.
Between the meal, Qin Yan heard Qin Muran say, "Father, sister wants to talk to you about something."
Qin Yicheng glanced surprisingly at Qin Yan, "What do you wanted to talk about, Yan Yan?"
Qin Yan pretended to hesitate and then said, "It's nothing, father."
"Sister, don't be afraid. You can say what is on your mind. I am sure father will understand", Qin Muran said gently.
"No, no, It's really nothing Muran," Qin Yan had no intention of saying anything.
Qin Muran frowned, 'Why is this bitch not saying anything! Is she suspecting me? No, that can't be. She is so dumb, there is no way she could see through my plans. No, I have to succeed today. I have to make her drop out.'
Qin Muran looked towards Qin Yicheng and said, "Father, I think sister is afraid that you will get angry. That's why, she is not willing to say her thoughts."
Qin Yicheng looked at his daughter. Realizing that she really didn't have the courage to say anything, he turned towards Qin Muran, "Since Yan Yan is not willing to say, Muran tell me, what's the matter?"
Qin Muran was waiting for this opportunity to come. She stared at Qin Yicheng for a while and said, "Father, sister wants to drop out of the school."
Bang! Qin Yicheng threw his chopsticks down!
*Qin Mufeng is the eldest sibling, so he would be called Eldest young master. Qin Yan being second sibling is called Second miss. Qin Muran being third sibling will be called Third miss.
