Chapter 5 - First Mission

Thank you, Mr. Arthur, for the coffee, and I apologize for taking up your time. Now, I'll provide you with details about the appearance of the person who intended to harm me. I believe he was a psycho or something similar. He wore a gray hoodie riddled with holes and dust, obscuring his face. Despite this, I could see his lower face and noticed blood in his mouth. The alleyway was devoid of light, and my only visibility came from my mobile's flashlight. Strangely, I caught a glimpse of his red eyes, filled with anger and hatred."

" Sob… Sob… I don't even know what I did to provoke such behavior. I didn't know him. He struck my head with a metal pipe, causing bleeding and my collapse. I lacked the strength to stand or make any sound. He intended to strike again, but fortunately, my screams attracted help. I shudder to think what could have happened if they hadn't arrived promptly," Kenny tearfully recounted.

" Alright, Miss Kenny, I understand. Please stay strong," I consoled her, witnessing her distress.

After a few minutes, Kenny composed herself.

" Once again, I'm sorry for my behavior. I wasted your time, and I apologize sincerely," she said.

" Don't worry about it, Miss Kenny. I have some questions if you don't mind," I inquired, eager to clarify certain points.

"Of course, Mr. Arthur. I don't have any problem," Kenny agreed.

"So, my first question is, you mentioned the assailant wanted to kill you. Are you certain about that? It's possible he was a thief attempting to snatch your belongings," I proposed, acknowledging the unusual nature of my question.

"No, I'm sure. If he were a normal thief, he could have escaped after injuring me initially. Also, I didn't possess anything valuable at that time. His eyes revealed a desire to kill, filled with hatred and anger," Kenny asserted with fear in her voice.

With her statement recorded, I proceeded with the next question.

"Previously, you noticed blood in his mouth. Do you think someone injured him beforehand?"

"I can't be certain if it was his blood, but he didn't seem injured at the time. His actions suggested he was unharmed," Kenny replied after thoughtful consideration.

"Did the assailant already have the metal pipe when he attacked you?"

"Yes, he had the metal pipe in his hand from the beginning," she affirmed.

"When he left the scene, did he drop the metal pipe?"

"I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think he dropped the pipe. If he had, the police would have found it by now, but they found nothing," Kenny stated after contemplating.

"Did you notice anything peculiar about the assailant, like his gestures, speech pattern, or anything else?"

"Umm… I don't recall anything unusual. Let me think… Oh, I remember. When I fell to the ground after being hit, I saw that his shoes were peculiar, covered with polythene or something. He also wore gloves, and I recall a bandage on his right cheek," Kenny mentioned after a deep thought.

"Do you have any enemies in your school or college life, or do you suspect anyone?"

"No, Mr. Arthur. I never had any enemies, and I've never spoken harshly to anyone," she responded.

"Alright, then my last question is, have you encountered anyone unusual in recent months or days?"

"From 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., I work at the shopping mall and meet many people daily. I can't be sure if I've met the assailant, but I don't think I encountered someone with a bandage on their right cheek," Kenny informed.

Having gathered vital information, I concluded the questioning and expressed my gratitude.

"Thank you, Miss Kenny, for providing these answers. They will be instrumental in my investigation. I may reach out to you if more questions arise," I thanked her sincerely and rose from my seat.

"No problem, Mr. Arthur. I believe you can solve this case. I'll walk alone at night," Kenny and Mr. John also stood up. We shook hands, and I left the cafe, armed with the location of the alleyway for further investigation.

As I exited the cafe, my phone vibrated. Unlocking it, I found a notification leading me to a mission application, revealing a new mission related to helping Kenny catch her potential killer.
