Chapter 88:
Inside of the headquarters was a desolation, people and former employees were recruited to other departments since the main component of the Avengers have split.
Tony decided to live the headquarters as it is as he believe that this place would still be useful in the future.
We walk through the hall then reach the destination shortly after where holograms of people gather in circular view to talk to each other.
Most of the contents was how many soldiers and jets will be provided for each country. Many are reluctant to give so much since defending their own backyard or nation is also on their mind.
Sending soldiers and jets to fight first will only earn them short time glory but those who have reserves will have more chance to survive and protect their places.
A minute of hearing them arguing nonstop, they still didn't notices our arrival, Rhody has to inform Secretary Ross that Captain Rogers is here on the headquarters.
Secretary Ross walked in his hologram form as he muted the meeting to silence them and look at Captain Roger and the others.
Ross has his own way of getting things done with his people so listening to some politicians banter doesn't change his ways. He is a military general so people in the army still has his own influence, his team now are focusing on finding Vision and other 'criminals' us.
Ross " You stole a Quinjet, invade other country's borders. Your name have been named as criminals on international level. Give us Vision and we will not pursue you anymore."
Rhody said his piece before Steve speak. " They are only criminals because you guys force them, if you didn't chose to create the Accords, the Earth will still have its Defenders in the light instead of hiding."
Ross " You guys are deem dangerous for not having limitations and with no regards for international authority. The Accords are there to limit the power of super-humans in a situation where they chose life of crime."
Rhody " And didn't that what really happened when you force someone to sign the Accords where they are chose to side with being governments too-.."
Steve interrupted Rhody before he finished his statements " Rhody."
Rhody close his mouth but still glare at Secretary Ross.
Secretary Ross is still look unfazed but directed his attention to Rogers and Vision beside him.
Steve focus at Secretary Ross and greeted " Secretary Ross"
Ross " You guys have the nerve, stealing Quinjet and taking Vision then come back to this place."
Natasha glanced at the holograms of people still muted but their expressions of arguing still resume and then said expressionlessly" You guys might need that right now."
Ross ignored her comment and still scan Captain Rogers " The world is on fire right now and you think because you can come back here, all your crimes are forgiven?"
Steve said full of seriousness " I've never regret anything I've done and I'm way past of asking for permission."
" Earth lost your best defender so we are here to fight, if you choose to stand on our way, we'll fight you too." Steve voice are full of seriousness and I'm even tempted to record this scene but Lyla elbow me before I pressed my mask which has a button to record what the camera capture.
Ross contemplated Steve's serious words and look at Rhody. " Arrest them all."
Ross voice is soft like almost a whisper, no matter what he is still the Secretary of Defense so giving orders on arresting criminals is his job. The world needed the Avengers so he gave orders and Rhody get the message from him and remove his hologram along with all the others.
Now that the place are quiet and serene.
Rhody observed us and can't help commenting " You guys all look like crap, must have been a rough couple of years"
Sam " Yeah, we just finished a fight and we've not been visiting 5 star hotels often"
Rhody noticed that Bruce at the back typing on the computer seemingly finding something, " Bruce, long time no see man, how have you been. I heard you're with Tony but didn't seen you fight."
Bruce smiled to Rhody weakly as he replied " Nice to see you too, Rhody. There is some complications and I can't transform into Hulk as he refuse to come out."
" Refuse? How's that possible, you've been missing for couple of years and Hulk is a great asset for this war right now."
" Yeah, that's why I look for this, Tony and I design this in case Hulk and I had another complications but I didn't think this is the way this is going to be use." Bruce turn the computer to our way to show the screen where a hulk-buster armour are being send on this location.
Bruce " The hulk-buster armour is something Tony and I design so I'll just need to suit this up in exchange for Hulk."
Natasha " That is wonderful Bruce. "
Sam " Are you sure you can pilot this thing, it seems you have never tried using it?"
Bruce " There is an AI built to assist the person wearing this so all I need is to give command and instruction and it probably not too… complicated."
