Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen – A what?!

Pascal and Sarah didn't fly when they came back down, they didn't have the energy. Even though the color had changed the building still retained its shape; building upon building built on top one another, each smaller than the previous one, giving it a pyramidical shape. When they were at the top they noticed a staircase beside them, they used it and reached a door beside the building and entered a room that was about 16 to 20ft big. It was empty though; the previous owners must have built it too feel taller than everyone when they stood at the zenith of the building.

They didn't waste time checking what was in all the rooms they came across, they just kept descending the staircases until they reached the first floor. It was the biggest and most spacious out of all the others, the hall spacious and wide with thick columns lined up to the outside, where Henry and the others were waiting.

"This construction is humongous, are you sure you can live here all by yourself?" Sarah jokingly said.

"Hell no." Pascal said and they both laughed.

"Hey," Sarah nudged him, "Look at that." she tilted her head to a position.

Pascal turned to see a majestic golden throne. He paused for a moment – taking in the image – before taking small but firm steps towards it.

Since he once lived in a castle, he had seen a throne before. His father's throne was made thick mahogany wood and was painted red. The image of his father sitting on the throne resurfaced in his mind, back then he had thought it was impossible for him to ever sit on a throne like that, nor have the same regal posture his father had.

'You could never be a king' was what his siblings usually said to him. And they were right, he wasn't destined to be a king, and from now on he would never dream of becoming one.

He was an Overlord. He still hadn't quite understood what that word entailed, but for some reason he knew that his name would one day be known in every corner of the Northern Region.

After climbing a few steps, he reached the throne. He stretched his arm and touched it, it felt cold to the touch.

"It's pure gold." He gasped.

He turned around and surveyed the hall, the others had entered and were all looking up at him. He took a deep breath, grabbed the arms of the throne and sat down.

[Ding! Congratulations on completing your quest!

Rewards have been automatically kept in your storage space.]

[Extra reward: Passive skill [Overlord's Might]. It is a passive skill that is always activated and doesn't take any energy. It gives the Overlord a dignified and venerable aura.]

The others also got their reward for meeting the Overlord and coming to the city, which was a large amount of mp, which was enough for them to level up once more. Apart from Veronica and Morgana who were level now five, the others had all become level seven. Sarah was level eight while Pascal was level ten.

While George and the rest were exited from leveling up and were checking if they could get new skills, Pascal had already walked down from the throne.

"Thank you all so much," He said, "I wouldn't have completed my quest so soon if I wasn't for your help."

"There's no need for thanks, this is our home too." Sarah said.

"Yes, but still…"

Morgana walked up to him and looked him up and down, "There's something different about you." She spoke.

"Yeah," Ronan walked forward, "You seem more…regal-like."

"Forget about that," George suddenly shouted, "Why are we standing here mumbling when we can go tour the city!"

"Oh, right. Let's go explore our new home." David said.

"Race you!"

"Race me where? We don't know anywhere here – wait!"

George and David raced out of the hall, followed by Sarah, Morgana, and Henry who was dragging Ronan. Mary and Veronica decided to explore the building they were in, which they dubbed the Overlord's Castle.

Pascal smiled at them as they all ran around, he looked back at the throne one more time before running after the others.

"Wait for me!"

Inyaki's favorite pastime was to watch his follower's day to day life. When he wasn't working on something he would gaze down at them and watch them grow and flourish, it was truly amazing. He wasn't rushing to find more followers personally, all he had to do anyway was have a few followers in every duchy in the Northern Region and there would be other people who would join the religion once they see his magnificence.

Jokes apart, it wouldn't really be hard to convince people to worship a god in this world because unlike the world he came from, the people of this world were well aware of the gods existence. Although, they still made some rules that they claimed the gods made, and they still wrote stories about the gods that never actually happened, not everything was a lie. Just a huge portion of it.

The only thing they were not aware of yet was technology and the existence of other worlds. Inyaki did make some subtle technological advancements in the kingdom. He left his followers to find out how they worked themselves and learn how to make them and later, mass-produce them.

Since he had just finished working on a small project he decided to rest and watch his followers in a totally non-creepy way.

[Ding! New System Update: (1) Warriors have been given more weapons to choose from.

(2) New class: Rune Mage is now available.]

Pascal and the rest got the message when they were climbing the mountain.

"Hmm, a new update. I wonder what Rune Mages can do?" David said.

"I'm just glad that there aren't any new skills for mages," David sighed in relief, "I've only just barely made progress in arranging the elements in my brain in a way that would be easier and faster for me to use in battle, adding one more throw everything into disarray."

"How long do we have to walk before we reach this town anyway? I want to go back to the comfy bed in my houses." Goerge said.

"For the last time, George, you can only have one house. And, we are living together, after all those houses aren't small." Sarah glared at him.

"I was just joking…"

Pascal chuckled, "We'll soon reach there, don't worry." He said to George.

"Really? But it hasn't been long since we started walking, how are we already close to the top of the mountain?" Sarah asked.

"Welcome to the Forsaken Lands." Pascal, Morgana and Ronan all said.

The rest just shook their head and continued walking. Before they left the city, Pascal had consulted with Sarah if he could bring his people into the city even though they weren't followers. Sarah just laughed and said why not, she was also a little bit perplexed as to why he was asking for her advice.

When they reached the town, the residents were all gathered in one place. They all looked agitated and restless.

'It must have been because of the bright light the [Blessed Gem] released earlier' Pascal quickened his steps and readied the speech he had prepared to use to calm them down. Before he could say anything, a man ran out of the crowd. Pascal remembered him to be Morgana's uncle.

"Morgana!"

"Uncle!"

Morgana and her uncle hugged for a brief moment.

"What happened, Morgana? Was it the ghosts?"

When the people heard those question, they began to ask questions on their own. Everyone wanted to know what the bright light was all about, and if they were in danger.

"I believe I can answer your questions." Pascal spoke, what followed was an irresistible aura that made it impossible for people to take their eyes off of him. So, they all stopped their noise and waited for Pascal to explain.

"What happened there wasn't an outbreak of a dangerous being, rather is was the result of us killing all the ghost that plagued the kingdom." He paused to look at the people's shocked faces before continuing "To understand what I'm going to say next; you all need to follow me." He began walking, so they all had no choice but to follow him if they wanted answers.

He led them all to the edge of the mountain and asked them to look down.

Immediately, there were shocked voices talking over one another.

"Its…changed!"

"Yeah! I've looked down from here many times – I'm pretty sure we all have – it was never like this?"

"It has a gate now. Is it gold?!"

"What happened? And what is that glowing light on top of that huge building at the back?!"

Pascal waited a few moments for them to express their excitement before talking, "That, is the tool my god gave me, it was used to eradicate all the ghost and change the kingdom. Now, I won't say too much. You can see the kingdom and its changes; the houses are much better than the ones you have now. Would you like to move there?"

Everywhere turned quiet when he said that, they all looked at his as if they were trying to see if he was joking or not. Then an elderly man walked forward, Pascal recognized him well, his name was Angus, and he was the most respected person in the town, after him.

"My lord, what do you mean your god gave you a tool? Why would your god want to erase the ghosts?" he asked.

Pascal smile gently, "The god I worship is the God of Origins. He assigned me the status of a ruler called the Overlord and gave me that city to rule over."

That created another round of shock mumbling that thankfully didn't stay very long.

A few seconds went by before Angus spoke "My lord, are you positive that there are no more ghosts?"

"I swear it." Pascal said.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" He looked at everyone, "Who doesn't want a good life? We will do as you have ordered." Then he bowed at Pascal. Everyone did the same before going back to their homes to pack.

"Wait, won't you all at least wait till tomorrow?" Pascal was stunned at how quick they were packing out.

Angus laughed, "We've all wanted to move down there for a long time, my lord, and we would have if it wasn't for the ghosts. Now that they're gone, why would we wait? Excuse me my lord, I need to claim a big house for myself and my family before the others take them all." Then he left with his walking stick.

Pascal watched incredulously as the people speedily moved, "That was quicker than I thought it was going to be."

Morgana laughed at his side, "Do you know how long we've been eyeing that kingdom? We've wanted it for ourselves for a long time but could only watch it from afar. Now we get to live in better houses, whoever stays behind would be a fool." Then she left with her uncle.

"Let's go too gang, I already spied a particular big house before. Let's go there before they find it." George whispered before running away, everyone chuckled before following him. Only Pascal stayed, he sat down and watched his people move out of their homes and rush down the mountain.

'Right,' he thought 'I remembered haven't checked my rewards yet'. Even though his rewards were kept in the [Storage Space] he still needed to receive them. He mentally gave the command.

[Ding! Gifts received: (1) A Management Book

(2) A wardrobe full of regal clothes

(3) Two Construction Blueprints

(4) A Ferocious Golden Dragon egg]

Pascal went silent for a few seconds before screaming.

"A what?!"
