Helen did not know how to explain to Mrs. Sunshine that it was just a stunt that Adria had pulled in order to save her from a bad situation. However, she was unaware that Adria only used the betrothed statement as a stunt because the Grand Duke had genuinely proposed the idea.
Adria himself was not at all interested in taking Helen as a wife or marrying into aristocracy. In fact, he did not see himself as being bided to only one woman. That part of him probably died along with his romantic relationship with Emilia.
