"It is quite unfortunate that we have had yet another tragedy as a result of our neighbors." Bridges sighed, "We have lost brothers today! Men and women of valor, even before they could show their courage against the enemy. Let us rise and have a minute of silence on their behalf." he stood to his feet and so did all the soldiers in the hall.
As they did, Bridges looked all around in search of a particularly familiar face. However, he did not see it. he could not help but grin in his heart at this wonderful opportunity to punish Adria. After all, absenteeism from a Base commander's parade was a very serious and punishable offense in the military.
Everyone in the hall stood to their feet and those with berets on removed them and bowed their heads.
"That Adria has a habit of coming late. Once this one minute of silence is over, I will immediately dismiss everybody. That rascal must be punished." Bridges thought to himself. He put back on his beret, "Now, to other important matters, I heard that we had a good rescue today from Captain Adria. So where is our savior...?"
*Boom*
"What in hell was that!?" Bridges yelled.
Squatterbloat immediately rushed to the side of the Base commander and whispered into his ears.
"Are you sure!?" Bridges asked, "In here!?"
Squatterbloat nodded. Bridges sighed to himself. Apart from those emergency sentries, the rest of the Base members were present in the Mess hall. Although soldiers were by far more organized, it would still take a while for soldiers to reach their battle stations. Since it was just one vampire, there was no reason to cause a ruckus. Bridges knew this would add up to Adria's reputation, but he had to maintain certain civility in such a situation.
"Sqautterbloat, No one leaves the Mess area. Hopefully, that lad has things under control outside." Bridges sighed again.
Meanwhile, Adria followed after the vampire through the base. It was already dark. Which meant that the threat of the sun was no more. However, the base was still filled with you UV lights at nearly every turn. the vampire flipped over houses as it ran. Just behind Adria was Nora. She was also in pursuit, but she was greatly lacking behind.
A UV search light crossed the path of the beast which scarred it and it jumped back in retreat. Unfortunately for it, Adria was just behind with a well-molded fist coming right for its face.
*Boom*
The impact sent it through one of the buildings. However, Adria discovered that the beast was still kicking. It had defended the attack with its hands crossed in front of its face. It stood up and stomped its feet on the ground.
"Hmmm! Now that's not so good." Adria frowned.
The Beast had started undergoing more changes. Its boots bulged as its feet swelled in them until they tore through. Its thighs got bigger until the camouflaged trousers turned to rags from its size. From its back to its rare end, its spine bulged up and elongated through its backside. Its mouth got bigger and its jaw elongated some more to give space to the uneven rows of teeth that visibly grew.
*Grrrhhh!!!*
It growled loudly to the sky.
Some of the soldiers on sentry saw this and immediately directed one of the UV lights to the beast.
It shrieked loudly in pain and threw a brick from the partially destroyed building at the light.
Adria could not help but think of how wonderful a career this Vampire would have had in baseball. The brick did not only destroy the light, but it also went through and got the soldier behind it.
However, more soldiers had seen it. And soon enough, more lights headed for its location, and the base alarm was sounded.
In the Mess hall, Bridges sighed. Once the alarm had been sounded, keeping things under wraps was not going to happen.
"Nobody move!" Squatterbloat stepped forward and ordered, "Don't worry! the situation is under control. Besides, the threat is very minimal. I already have word that Captain Adria has it by the balls."
Although there was little murmuring, orders were orders and military men were very disciplined.
More UV lights were directed at the beast. It screamed in pain. It picked a safer direction, and ran in it.
Adria looked in the direction the beast had followed. It was towards the runway or to be precise, the fence after it. It was trying to run towards the Hole. He ran in pursuit of it. And so did Nora.
"Damn it!" Adria cursed out. Far off in the distance, his good eyesight caught sight of an approaching plane.
...
"Ladies and gentlemen, we will now be landing at the Citadel." The pilot announced. Helen could not help but feel a little relief. They had arrived safer than she had predicted.
However, as they did, her eyes were still looking through her window when she saw Adria and Nora in pursuit of the beast.
"Sasha! something doesn't look right here!"
Sasha immediately looked out the window. She had already considered the idea of diving in to help, but then she saw Adria in pursuit. She smiled and laid back down in her seat.
"Are you not going to..."
"Don't worry Lady Helen. It's under control." Sasha interrupted her with a smile.
Adria and Nora continued in their chase. Even Adria had to admit that he had underestimated the speed of this vampire. This particular beast seemed to excel more at speed than he had anticipated.
The beast got closer to the high fence. Although UV lights followed its movements, it was faster than they could catch.
Adria frowned. This was not working. At this rate, It was an assurance that this beast was going to get away. He looked behind him, Nora was not so far behind. A silly idea came to his mind.
He immediately stopped and made a sharp roundabout turn. His hands caught Nora by the back of her shirt and then with a twist, he threw her in the air in the direction of the Vampire...
