Adria turned to the new guest. His head bent slightly to the side and his eyes gave the impression that he was looking at an idiot. However, the person did not move and only made the motion for Adria to attack again with his fingers.
Adria did not rush. He took one step at a time until he was just a step away from the opponent. And then he folded his bloody hands in front of his chest. For a few seconds, both people only stared at each other. And then Adria suddenly noticed the frown that came from the person's eyes.
He was about to give a cocky smile when he realized that the wind blowing on his right side was a little more than that on the left. The corner of his eyes caught sight of something fast approaching and he defended with his hand.
*Boom*
It was a kick and the aim was Adria's head. However, the in coming kick was so strong and loud that Adria could have sworn an artillery shell was let loose on him.
His legs screeched because of the force.
"What in the...!?" Adria's words were interrupted by another kick on the same side. And then another and another. All on the same side. And although he defended against them, he could feel his right hand slightly become numb.
He backed up a bit. However, the assault from this nameless enemy was still a distance from done. Six kicks followed. This time around, it came from all sides. Adria defended as fast as he could. But with every hit that landed, so was the enormous pain he felt in his hands. Soon enough, his hands started to feel numb, and then a kick came right for his head and his hands tired from all the hits were too slow to catch up with it.
*Powh!*
The kick sent him a distance away.
He also almost fell off the plane. Adria dug his fingers inside the body of the plane as he used it to climb back up to his feet. However the moment he did, he was surprised to see another person standing with the previous one he had been fighting.
This person was also covered entirely in black clothes.
Adria with his experience, could be called an expert in the exploration of the feminine body.
One look and he could instantly tell that this new person was a woman. She seemed to be whispering something into the ear of the first person. And then she pointed into the distance. Adria subconsciously looked in the direction she pointed. He could see that the clouds were clearing out, and the sun was rising. Also, the winged vampires were now rushing to take cover within the clouds.
His eyes came back to the two persons. However, they were gone. He looked all around just to be sure this was not some kind of trick. However, searching as he did, he did not see anyone.
For a slight second, he could have doubted that he even saw those two. But the pain in his mouth was clearly a reality. After all, the pain was proof of life.
He spat some blood from his mouth to the side.
He really could not believe that he had just been beaten to such an extent. Secondly, the pain in his hands made for a very convincing argument that it was true. He looked at his hands. They were still slightly shaky and numb from that assault.
This made him frown.
Adria was a Darkling that fell under the Enhanced category. This meant that he could use the Daranite that had now become a part of his body to fight.
For him, It was his blood which he wore as gloves around his fists, all the way to his elbows. However, he could see that the attack from that person had eaten significant chunks from his gloves and even his pale skin underneath was a shade of purple from all those hits.
Never in his line of work had he fought a vampire capable of breaking through his Daranite gloves, and he should know. After all, he had a habit of enjoying punching through their teeth.
Adria sighed.
And as the sunlight hit his skin from the horizon, he could not help but look in its direction and enjoy the beauty of mother nature's warmth.
"Mr... Mr. Darkling sir!" the voice of the soldier peeping interrupted his moment. Adria slowly turned in his direction with a brow up.
"Sorry, sir! I don't mean to disturb you, but the pilot said we are approaching the citadel now. I don't know if you mind getting into the plane before we land."
Adria nodded at him before his eyes once again fixed on the horizon. After a while, he could feel that the plane was slowly descending. He looked over.
There, he could see the remaining flying vampires rushing into the buildings of the city below.
This city had extremely high walls caging it in. He could also see from his position that for a good five kilometers or more surrounding the city walls, was no living thing. Plants and animals. Only dried land and abandoned vehicles littered all around the place.
Not so far away, he could see another fence. This one was much smaller, and it was not to fence the wall of the city. Rather it was to fence the big military barracks stationed there.
On the walls laid all kinds of artillery weapons. And even from such a far away distance, He could see humans like ants on the ground diligently at work. This was the place referred to as the Citadel. It was a Forward Operating Base(FOB) for the military of the UC against the vampire menace. It was also the point of his punishment until further notice.
Adria got tired of the sight before him. After all, he would be seeing more of it for a while. He got into the plane from the hole in it.
The moment he entered, all eyes were on him. He had even forgotten that he was naked from the waist up, and at that moment, many were comparing the lean cuts of his muscles to the bricks of a wall. The crowd of soldiers stared at this beast of a man that dared to ride a blood demon like a horse just to come to save their lives. And many felt little in his presence.
Adria smiled at them, "Hey, does anyone happen to have a cigar?"
"Me!"
"Me!"
"I do!"
Many people responded. Adria took a pack from the brand he was most familiar with and popped one into his mouth. A soldier immediately hurried over with a lighter and ignited it for him.
"Thank you!" He smiled charmingly at the soldier. It was a female soldier. She blushed as she smiled back at him, playing with her hair with one hand.
All of a sudden, Adria was beginning to imagine the fun staying at the hole was going to bring him. Especially with the smile of the beauty before him.
Unknown to him, this trip was just going to be the beginning of many problems.
