Chapter 15 - Kevin, The Vampire With No Tail

Thomas felt very tired and heavy in heart. He really didn't want to go to the class. But Anderson had sent everyone a textfly telling them to come. And he had even said Nick would also come.

So Thomas got himself together and went to the class with Kevin while Sheli came with Lily. Nick came with Anderson.

The healers had done their best. Thanks to their skills, Nick had opened his eyes. As they confirmed it was a result of awakening with such a heavy form, they were relieved. And they had said it would be alright if he trained his body more. Anderson also had healed completely. The healers' powers were really amazing. Only a few scars were left on him, but there was no pain anymore.

"It's okay now. I want all of you to achieve all of your goals as soon as possible. So we don't have any time to waste. Today I want Kevin and Thomas to try. And I will help others to balance your forms."

That day Anderson didn't waste any time. He said he was okay. Nick was also there preparing to learn, but he looked a little pale. Maybe after what happened, he was nervous to try again.

"All of you transform."

As Anderson said Sheli, Lily, and Nick transformed into their forms.

"Three of you practise the transformation process. It should be done within 38 seconds. If you take more time than that, then you need to practise more."

He said and handed them something.

It looked like a ball. But it looked tough. It was completely black and it had a white dot in the middle.

Anderson touched the white dot and said 38 seconds. Then he asked everyone to watch closely.

When it was the 38th second, the dot came up and the ball separated into pieces in the shape of a flower. Then it closed again and sounded Anderson's voice.

"38 seconds."

It was a tool like a timer. When Anderson said the time it would open up at the last minute or second. Then it would become a ball again and would start counting from the start.

"Woah!".

Kevin was amazed.

"Train until you can transform within 38 seconds. No break! No free time! Keep going until you succeed. If you succeed you can take a rest and practice to do it even faster."

He looked really strict at that time. Everyone gulped seeing him.

Sheli took the ball and walked away with the other two.

Kevin and Thomas stayed there with Anderson.

"I guess Kevin could do it today. Let's start with Kevin."

Thomas walked back to that same place. In front of him, it was Anderson and Kevin. Behind him, it was the other three trying to transform within 38 seconds.

He felt very disappointed in himself for being alone like that without doing anything. Yet, he had to wait until it was his turn.

He watched Kevin float on the air like that day. As expected of Anderson, Kevin succeeded!

While Anderson was watching him from afar, he witnessed the amazing transformation process of a vampire. It was his first time having a vampire student.

First, Kevin's eyes changed colour. Just changing that colour was enough for him to give a scary look because it's bloody red. His skin got pale at once. Anderson had seen many vampires before. But his one and only vampire student turned out to be a little special. So far every vampire he had seen who got pale skin after the transformation, got that colour slowly. But Kevin changed it instantly.

It was a good thing. Maybe he could transform faster than anyone else. But who knew he was slower than everyone else!

As his teeth also appeared from the corners of his mouth, he seemed fine. He smiled with those teeth but only to bite himself.

"Ah! With these, it's hard to even talk."

Kevin complained while touching his teeth. Meanwhile, Sheli and others also watched him complain while doing their work. They felt it was funny.

"So we have one more person here. And now it's the last one."

Anderson turned to Thomas whose heart was beating like crazy out of excitement, nervousness but also encouragement.

"You also go and practise with them after ten minutes. Let your body get used to it. Then try to practise with them. If you can't, no problem, we still have time."

Kevin wished Thomas luck and walked slowly to the others.

'Why is it that I don't have a tail?'

He seemed too sad because he didn't get a tail.

"Sit down."

Anderson asked Thomas to sit on the ground in front of him.

"Don't worry if we can't do it today. You still have time."

Anderson said friendly. Thomas nodded and closed his eyes as Anderoon ordered him.

"Hold my hand. Take a deep breath."

When he closed his eyes it became dark. Very dark. He saw him in a space that was blank everywhere. He turned around to see but everything was just a blank space.

"Do you see a light in front of you? Something like in the shape of the full moon."

Anderson asked. His eyes weren't closed. He was observing Thomas's reaction.

"Ah...Yeah! I see. There are two lights."

"Two? Are you sure? Look closely. Are there still two?"

Anderson leaned a little closer and asked anxiously.

"Yeah! there are two."

As Thoams said, Aderson tightened his grip on Thomas's hand.

"Can you describe to me what they look like?"

Anderson was very surprised. It was his first time hearing someone say they saw two lights.

"Ah...The one in front of me is very bright. There is nothing special. It's white. And it feels very comfortable to keep watching it.

And the other one...It is next to the bright light. But that light is not that bright and it looks small in size too. It's a blue colour. It Looks like the sea, very beautiful."

'Blue?'

Anderson had no idea. For the first time in his life, he felt like he was a teacher with no knowledge.

"Then where do you want to go? The white one or the blue one?"

Anderson asked calmly.

"I want to go to the white one."

Anderson sighed lightly and continued instructing him.

"Walk to the white one and touch it."

Thomas saw his figure slowly stepping toward the white light in front of him. He walked and walked until it was only ten steps left for him to touch it.

'Aaaaaah! Don't kill me! Stop...I am begging you..."

Until that familiar scream rang in his ears, Thomas was doing good. He felt uncomfortable. He, himself, didn't want to walk anymore. He slowly turned to the blue light with confusion.

Anderson who was observing Thomas saw his expression change from while to while. At first, everything was okay. But then he saw Thomas frowning and then he looked terrified. He started sweating and also groaning. He started to breathe heavily and at the same Thomas's grip on Anderson's hand tightened to the point Anderson started to feel pain.

He forcefully pulled his hand away. Thomas opened his eyes, sweating heavily.

"Are you okay?"

Anderson stood up and supported Thomas to get up. But his legs gave up standing and he fell.

Anderson let him rest on the ground until he calmed down.

"What did you see? Why are you so scared?"

Anderson gave him some water and asked him.

"I didn't see anything."

After his breath came back to normal, Thomas answered Anderson.

"Then why were you so scared?"

Anderson checked his pulse and noticed it was normal. He sighed with relief.

"I just heard something. It was an accident that happened to me when I was a child. I still can't get rid of that fear."

Thomas wiped his sweat and mumbled.

"I see. It's okay. Some people face the same thing. But I don't think it's a good thing. Because your fears have become very powerful in your mind. They stop you from awakening your form. Maybe that's why you became a late bloomer. "

Anderson sat in front of Thomas again.

Thomas didn't say anything. He had never expected his fear would cause such a thing. But he still can't forget that memory.

"Do you want to try again? If you don't want to, we can continue the next day."

Anderson asked Thomas who was looking down blankly.

"I want to try again. I'll try my best."

"Okay."

They continued the same process again.
