Chapter 4 - Learning Etiquette

My first party went okay. I mainly greet guests who arrived from Duke's family to Marquess, Earl's family, and at last, viscount's family. I have made two new friends, Hazel Odin and Christian Aubade. There were other children from other noble families too, but they were all shy or didn't talk to me. It would make sense because, at present, I can't speak. All I can say is "waa kaa." after the party, everything went normal. As soon I woke up, Miya cleaned me up, fed me my breakfast, and then took me to my mother. She will have me playing in her office while she does her duties as Queen, governing the internal matters. the moon palace is under the mother's direct control in Mercia king, which is believed to be the sun, and Queen is like people's moon.

You may wonder both the king and the Duke has a similar title, sun. The king governs the entire kingdom, while The duke households come directly from the royal blood and govern the southern region. The south of the region's mountains protects our domains from our enemies.

It's been nine months since I was born here, and I started walking. My speech is clear nowadays; all the effort I put into speaking to Miya finally paid off. Today I'm planning to surprise my mother; I knocked on the door and entered, "mom, ah no ahem mother, how are you today" I copied Miya on how she greets mom every day. Slightly lifting my dress and bowing my head a little, "it seems my lovely daughter started to grow up so soon. etiquette is crucial for royal, but it's okay if you act like a child for a few more years, my dear." my mother lifts me. She makes me sit on her lap. "next to your parents, you hold the high authority so no one can oppose you." I feel proud hearing those words. Chatting with mom, for sometimes I went to play with Hazel, who comes to visit me every three days a week.

I went to Rose garden to make a flower crown for Hazel as a gift. I saw some kids bully Hazel for not having a mother, and the king only took pity on her because she was the daughter of a runaway princess from a neighbouring nation. Hearing that I went there, I took Hazel's hand "didn't your parents teach you not to bully others. My father didn't take pity on Hazel. We all know that madam Sahra didn't do anything wrong by loving marquess Odin. If anything, you are jealous of Hazel being the daughter of such a brave madam. If this happens again, you will have to face the consequences in the king's court." II took her with me back to my palace.

Meanwhile, Jaylen Aubade witnessed the whole scene "so that's princess Letitia whom my little brother spoke favourably. she is cute but also clever by showing she took the child under her wings so no one will dare to. Mock her again." Hazel seemed concerned by their critique, so I gave her a pep talk. I placed my hand on those trembling hands and said that A child could not choose their parents. They can't hold an account for their parent's good or bad reputation, so we have to show them how strong we are by ourselves. Hazel slowly lifted her head to see my eyes and nodded boldly. "thanks, Princess Letitia, I will become a talented person like my mother." we hugged each other, and we decided to call each other by our pet names. I called her Elz. A week later, my mother arranged an etiquette teacher for me to learn the basics, which I copy out of Miya now and then. Teacher Martha agreed that her younger sister was well known for her elegance in high society.

Aunt Dwyane starts her lesson with greeting and how to be polite in all situations. During our meal course, she could guide me and teach me table etiquette. First, one should complete the soup with the help of a soup spoon, then with the use of a hand, tear a piece of bread or croissant and have a small bite. After having soup and bread, take a small portion of salad along with fruits and desserts as the finishing touch. Afternoon aunt Dwyane makes me walk with two books on my head so my body movements look refined. I know I was the one who wanted to learn the etiquette, but it has way more rules than I thought. It's easy to understand by seeing all the drama and knowledge in my past life, but royal rules are more complicated. I hope I master these rules soon. I'm so tired.
