Chapter 17 - Killing Arlong

He is simply blind to beauty. However, Nami doesn't want to bother him either. She thought he was acting this way so he would be more prepared to fight Arlong and left Leo to his device.

"Looks like we are here," Leo said as he took a step down the boat and onto the shore of the beach.

He admired the scene of the trees on the island as he walked into the village.

The villagers were eyeing him suspiciously until they noticed Nami, who was by his side. Then, the villagers all came to greet Nami for her coming back.

"Nami!!?" A girl with dark blue hair called out in the distance, and her face was filled with a mixture of surprise and worry as she met with the sight of Nami, standing there.

"Nojiko!" Name wrapped her arms around her sister with affection.

"Nami, you shouldn't have come back," Nojiko said with a face of worry. "You know Arlong…."

Her sister had her heart filled with worry for Nami, and the Arlong Pirates had left such deep scars on their lives, especially what happened to the once peaceful village.

Seeing the two sisters reunite like this, Leo didn't say anything. Instead, he disappeared when they didn't notice and headed to Arlong Park.

"This time, I had brought someone along. I think he will be able to defeat the Arlong Pirates," but when Nami and Nojiko looked at the spot where Leo was a second ago, they found he had disappeared.

"Nami, you know how impossible of a task that would be," Nojiko said with eyes of anxiety. "What difference is that from sending that poor guy to death?"

Nami didn't answer immediately, and then she smiled, "Nojiko, I choose to trust in him. There's something special about that man."

Her eyes carried faith in them as she smiled with hope. Nami watched how hard Leo trained on the days they were together. She had already found unwavering faith in that man in her heart.

Arlong Park…

"What is this feeling," one of the Arlong Pirates commented. It was like suddenly, and the world was spinning. There's a strong urge to throw up.

And he tried to hold on to the things around him to stabilize himself. And he watched as all the other members quickly fell and fainted.

"What is happening?"

"My head feels quite dizzy ."

Arlong looked with attention as all his pirates fell to the ground. And now, even for him, there seemed to be an invisible force that forced itself on his mind.

It is such an intense pressure that his eyes start to turn dark as he becomes on the edge of the precipice of fainting.

Before he fell to sleep, he saw the tower of Arlong Park collapsing downwards. The weight of the building killed a majority of the pirates under its rumble.

That man carries a long blade in his hand, and everywhere he goes, the bodies of the fainted pirates are cut in half so they can bleed to death.

"Who are you?" Arlong was finding himself losing consciousness as the pressure intensified every second.

The man hovers over him like a small mountain. His physique is seemingly extending towards the sky.

He gives a slight grin on his face as he then waves his sword back.

The man said with his deep voice, "I'm a little disappointed that there are no more satisfactory opponents here in the East Blue. You can go to sleep now."

Arlong's head slides off his neck from the cut of Leo's blade and drops to the stone floor.

"This must be how Saitama feels. Being too overpowered is not fun," Leo complained. "Maybe there will be some worthy opponents I will meet soon."

By now, the footsteps of the villagers had already arrived here after Nami told them the news. They came charging in after seeing the tower collapse downwards.

"I honestly thought he would have been at least a tad bit stronger," Leo said before noticing Nami, who stopped running after seeing the head of Arlong on the ground.

He looked at her to see that she had tears coming down her eyes and covered her mouth with her hands. Then, she falls to the ground and sobs loudly.

He came over in front of her, and he couldn't bear to see her crying so sad. So he told her warmly, "It's going to be alright now, Nami. Everything horrible is all over."

He didn't know how to comfort her, so he holds her inside in an embrace. And he lets her cry as she needs.

Nojiko also arrived behind Nami, and Leo could see that she also had tears in her eyes. Nevertheless, she musters a relieving smile as her eyes seem to express gratitude for Leo.

She mouths the words,"Thank you." But she didn't want to say it aloud because Nami was still sobbing.

That night the village created a special celebration for Leo, and they had even decided to build a particular statue for Leo for his deeds to the freedom of the town.

Leo waves politely, "It's honestly fine. I don't need a statue or anything."

"You're the hero of the town. You have to accept."

"It is the least we can do for someone like you, Kind Sir."

Nojiko gives a small pat on Leo's shoulder, "You might as well accept the statue and the feast of foods." Leo could only shake his head and give a polite nod.

The streets were filled with light, and there was even involved music. He and Nojiko watched on the sideline as the villagers danced and the enjoying the food that the villagers placed on the table.

There was the sweet smell of the delicious soup in the air that filled up the atmosphere.

One of the women came up to Leo with a large bowl of soup, "You have to try this soup that we made today. It's a seaweed soup containing crab meat and all sorts of good stuff."
