Chapter 18
Jamie stared at the ceiling, unable to find solace in sleep. His mind was a whirlwind of confusion and despair, haunted by the recent events. The night seemed endless, a stark reminder of how far he had fallen.
Surprisingly, his father hadn't reached out, leaving Jamie to navigate his own turmoil. Seeking distraction, he decided to visit the university and stop by his favorite coffee shop.
"Hot chocolate, please," Jamie muttered, his voice heavy with fatigue.
The cashier, eyes fixed on the door, spoke up unexpectedly. "You know, I was waiting for him every day."
Jamie raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
"I know, it sounds a bit creepy, but I just like seeing him," the cashier admitted, her gaze still lingering on the entrance.
"Miss…"
"Park Lara. But you can just call me Lara," she said with a bright smile. Jamie rolled his eyes, bemused.
