Chapter 13 - preparing for departure

While Oliver was making his way up to the shop, he was still deep in thought about all the things he had learned regarding the mana body. He felt extremely excited at the thought of controlling mana around him and making spells himself, from the moment he started casting spells he always felt restricted, like he was being controlled. That should have been the system, in his previous life he had never heard this complaint from any mage, so he figured that it was normal, but that wasn't the case, the rest of the magicians just had to low mana affinity to feel it.

Oliver was going to the shop to buy a specific skill, teleportation, it is an [S-grade] skill that lets you teleport over long distances. This skill was extremely important in the second phase of the tutorial, the plane they were on was the size of around 2 earths, and if you know that the 2 base camps are around the 2 opposite edges, the distance Oliver needed to travel to get to the other camp should be around 80.000 Km, even with his fly skill at full speed that would take multiple days.

Because of the big size of the camp, Oliver decided to start running to the shop, after a few minutes of that he finally arrived before the big white pillar with blue detailing on it, and an elegant light blue sign with the word 'shop' on it.

When Oliver stepped inside, he could see a totally different sight than the shops in the first phase of the tutorial, they looked like an old secondhand store while this looked like a 5-star hotel lobby. Everything was white or black with little blue accents here and there, all the counter seemed to be made out of marble with attractive looking young man and woman behind the counters.

Oliver didn't dwindle on the beauty of the shop though and directly went to purchase the skill [teleportation (S-grade) (1)].

It was an extremely expensive skill, costing 150 million coins, but that was to be expected of a high-ranking space skill.

The price wasn't really an issue for Oliver as the few days he would be saving with the skill were worth far more than 150 million coins, especially in the early stages of the second phase where all the troops of the enemy were in big groups and weren't on guard yet.

With this new skill acquired Oliver could go to the enemy at any moment, but before springing into combat, he had 1 last thing to do, that's why he headed to a relatively quiet place in the forest.

He was going to send Anna on a mission to level up in the lower-level dungeon of the second phase.

So, he promptly summoned her.

"I Oliver Smith summon Anna the child of light."

Just like the last time a bright beam of holy light appeared in front of Oliver, after a few second the ever-graceful Anna could be seen kneeling in the holy light.

"Nice to see you again, Anna."

"I'm happy to see you too, Oliver."

Anna said with a big smile.

Oliver was a little perplexed at how comfortable Anna was speaking, she was really struggling with that only half a day ago.

"Thank you for picking up formal talk so quickly, I'm impressed."

"I appreciate it, but I had some time to practice while I was not summoned."

Oliver came to a realization when she said that, if she can still practice something like that, where does she go?

"Anna, if you don't mind, could you tell me where you go when I unsummon you?"

"Not at all, I just float in nothingness, at least that is what I'm told, to me, it's completely black, he said something about not being able to comprehend nothingness."

Even more questions came into Oliver's mind when he heard that, so he decided to just ask them.

"Who is this 'he' you're talking about?"

"I don't know eater; he just provides me with info on how to be a good guard when I am in the void."

"Do you like it there, just tell me if you want to stay outside."

Anna seemed to be staring at Oliver after that question a bit.

"Anna?"

"O, yea, I would like that very much."

"Okay, I'll keep you out here as long as it is safe."

"Now then, the reason I summoned you, I will be going towards the enemy on the other side of this plane, in the meantime I want you to grow stronger, so I want you to run specific dungeons, let's see, how should I explain which ones to do."

Before Oliver could find the words to tell Anna what to do, she intervened.

"You don't have to explain, Oliver, our minds are linked."

Oliver felt a little weird when he heard that, but he decided to inquire further.

"How much can you see exactly, Anna?"

"In theory, I can see everything, but you have to allow me to look at them."

That was a little relief for Oliver.

"So, how do I do that?"

"Just think about something you want to share with me, it's that simple."

"Okay, I'll try it now, I'm going to send you a list of dungeons, do which one feels the best to you."

At that moment Oliver realized he had forgotten something, if Anna was going to do dungeons, she needed armor and a weapon, especially sins she is a healer thank type.

Oliver looked deep in his special bag, but the only thing he could find was some (A-grade) sword and armor that looked totally horrendous, he felt a little displeased giving such ugly and low things to Anna, but it couldn't be helped, she didn't need anything more anyway in the lower dungeons.

"You'll have to do with this armor for now Anna, when I have the chance, I'll buy you some good and fashionable armor."

Anna smiled and thanked Oliver for the armor.

"Okay that is about it, you can start doing dungeons now, I will summon you when needed, so stay prepared."

"I will."

After saying some final goodbyes, Anna left, and Oliver went back to the camp to try an idea that he got while talking to Anna before setting off on his journey.

His and Anna's conversation about the unknown, had sparked his curiosity about the main game, and he started to realize that he didn't know what to prepare or what to expect, so he went to the one man that had even the slightest chance of giving him information, the head of the magic association branch, Oliver knew that he had connection in the main game, he just didn't know if he would tell him anything, either way he wasn't losing anything by asking so why not.

Getting into his office wasn't difficult in the slightest with his status as a magic prodigy in the association, so after a short wait, he sat down before the boss's bureau.

"So, too what do I owe the pleasure, Oliver."

"Well, I'll come straight out and tell you, I want information on the main game, specifically things I need to prepare or things I can do right now to make the main game easier."

"Oliver, I really want to help you and be a part in the future growth of such a prodigy of magic, but unfortunately I can't, the system punishes me if I do that."

Before Oliver could even start to feel disappointed, he heard the boss talk again.

"But on another note, those skill books in the shop look really valuable, and those affinity raising potions too, even the lower tiered ones look rare and expensive, well that's what my friends in King's landing tell me anyway."

After saying that, the boss's life force started to weaken, and he started sweating.

"Well, I think I'm a bit tiered right now, you can leave."

Oliver left immediately while feeling extremely grateful to the boss, he had risked his life to give Oliver the information that skill books and affinity enhancement potions are way more valuable in the main game, that would mean they couldn't be bought anymore after the tutorial, at least not from system shops in mass quantity.

This information could give Oliver a massive boost when he first starts the main game if he stocks up on those before it starts.

With all of this in mind, Oliver planed on speeding up his plans, so he could monopolize the enemies loot even more.
