Chereads / The Triad Curse / Chapter 28 - A Hunch

Chapter 28 - A Hunch

Akrem.

I was on the phone with Claire. She caught my hunch about Arianell.

"Are you sure she's merely a human Empath, big brother? Or you knew deep down that she's more than that?"

The questions were rhetorical. I had three answers to her two questions. Still, I elaborated on them because I only needed confirmation for the obvious things. Also, it was because she could see everything from her crystal ball. Well, not, if it was about the ancient creature. The crystal ball wasn't old enough to know about everything.

"I have three answers to your two questions, dearest little sister. First, I'm sure she's more than that because I found the mate bond with her. Second, she'll be my Luna, which now I only need to wait for the proof that she's a she-wolf. As probably you already knew, her mom was a great she-wolf who could shift to the biggest war wolf seen by my Beta…"

I stopped to wait if she'd like to correct me. But she completely agreed,

"Go on, big brother. You're on the right track…"

"And third, probably she'll be there until the third phase of Triad Curse. So I think I'll postpone our mating until our wedding day, which seems so far away because I'll have to get through the next three phases of two Triad Curses and one from the descendant curse. I just don't know the shapes of the phases yet…"

"See… brother. You're indeed a fine alpha that you're able to figure out by yourself. You don't need me, brother. Just enjoy the process, and you'll be fine."

But I disagreed with her,

"There's a big purpose why you were born as a Hybrid witch and she-wolf, my wise little sister. It's to be by my side being the advisor of our Akhmedov clan throne. Enough with the serious discussion, how are you all, Rizvan and Chaital?"

I saw she smiled sadly. I believed she missed me like I missed her, Rizvan, and Chaital so bad. I was always in the Green Valley that I had never left before. My study in the Main Land was my first trip and staying away from my one and only little family by blood, though we had a huge pack of Akhmedov clan.

"Same old… same old, O dearest big brother. We miss you always… "

Her eyes looked longing.

"I do, too. O dearest little sister. I know that you sometimes talk about me when I had too many sneezes…"

She chuckled and I carried on,

"But this has to be done, right?! For the sake of our Akhmedov clan's future, you would want to see your direct descendants are safe with us to spend hundreds of years together, right?"

She nodded slowly and smiled,

"Yes, sire…"

I could read the happiness all over her face that she found peace seeing her brother was on the right track to being a better alpha. I ended the video call,

"Well then, send my big hugs and lots of love for Rizvan and Chaital. I have to work in the dark room, making sure all the pictures are ready for my exam presentation. You take care, sis…"

She grinned with pride,

"Learn well, big brother! We surely will keep ourselves safe here while you are away. Till we meet again…"

I stared at the night sky with the gleams of lights above it on my balcony. The noisy lights framed the almost quiet Main Land. There wasn't any hunting tonight because Arianell had just taken off to the Imperial Colony. Iron and I'd be there with her in three days to check the perimeter. We needed to make sure that we couldn't find more clues that alter the verdict of the death sentence for this particular killer that was about to be sent for execution this Saturday evening.

Last night, we couldn't find any hint of a single rogue vampire. This must be happening that the day the peace for humankind would be restored had finally become closer. And I could imagine my day leaving this Main Land with Arianell to spend the rest of our living days in the Green Valley.

Arianell.

I finally arrived at the Imperial Colony. I wasn't going to lie that I had missed this city. Though no one I could call family here, at least I had finally come home to the city I was born in. It felt calming but it was also frightening because I'd come home to an empty mansion without the trails of dad's living signs.

Though he was never around, I could smell his leftover black coffee, his favorite blueberry pie, and the woody scent of his perfume in line with the fresh scent of the pine forest on the outskirt of the Imperial Colony. Now you can imagine if I came across all those scents. Aside from my usual blueberry shampoo, the others were so dragging me to sleep forever below six feet under.

I wished the day Akrem and Iron came to this city and accompany me to attend the death sentence would come sooner. They were the people whom I could call my support system at the moment. Well, for a while, there was Mr. Tanaka anyway. He was the closest I could get to know about my dad.

The morning breeze in the Imperial Colony was full of pine scent. Mr. Tanaka was ready with the black Maybach when I landed. Still, the comfy passenger seat didn't cure my sore muscles after 16 hours of flight. I was glad it was morning before I got the chance to see Daniel tonight.

He said he wanted to show me some information about dad's murder chronology. He wasn't sure at first to show me the info, but I insisted. I needed to know what happened to my dad. So I could let him go and have peace in my mind. He'd come tonight with detective G to the mansion after he had done his work today.

Fortunately, because of that, I'd have some time to cure myself from jetlag. After more than a week of becoming a student in the days and a guardian Empath in the nights in the Main Land, I realized I could use a break from reading others' minds.

I had been having my long sleep when I heard someone knocked on the door…
