The man's tall stature shook, his voice instantly becoming hoarse, "Wait for me, I'll be back soon."
Tara Summer nodded her head before she heard the man say through the phone, "I love you." Tears overflowed her eyes, falling drop by drop, rolling down her cheeks and landing on her clothes.
She ended the call, but her hand did not move, and the phone still pressed against her ear.
Tears splattered on her clothes, becoming more and more numerous until a wet patch soaked the front of her chest—the scalding tears almost burned her skin.
"Uhh..." She whimpered, feeling as if her heart had been sliced open with a knife, the pain so intense it was heart-wrenching. Tara clutched her chest, biting her lip, forcing herself not to cry out loud.
Thump—the phone fell to the floor harmlessly, its screen still lit up. Tara lay on the edge of the bed and just managed to see the phone as she opened her eyes.
