"Ah..." Tara Summer shrieked, the sudden change making her skin turn pale. She stepped back repeatedly, covering her mouth and staring disbelievingly at the scene before her, filled with shock and fear.
A mythical creature, just five meters away, was slowly approaching her, its golden scales standing on end, like a beast preparing to attack, its claws scraping on the carpet.
A Qilin?
Tara blinked, pinched her cheek to confirm she wasn't dreaming or hallucinating. She was trembling all over, backing up as the creature got closer until her back hit the door of the hiding place.
"Roar..." Bartholomew approached her, its warm, moist snout almost touching her face, its large copper-bell-like eyes staring at her.
Tara held her breath and dared not to breathe. Its face was so close that she almost believed she was looking at the legendary dragon!
She still believed she was dreaming, closed her eyes, hoping to wake up to find the creature gone.
