Tara Summer didn't know the professors well and was feeling tired, so she didn't join them. Instead, she ordered a cup of coffee and some pastries at the hotel restaurant.
She slowly savored her food. The restaurant was quiet, with only one or two other patrons. The soothing and beautiful music played softly in the background.
After finishing her meal in silence, Tara found herself suddenly rejuvenated as she stepped out of the restaurant.
Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she watched as the early morning sky gradually brightened. At five in the morning, there was already a touch of dawn breaking in the sky.
Unable to resist, Tara stepped outside, standing at the entrance of the hotel looking towards the east. Then, she started walking along the street.
The early mornings in Los Angeles were peaceful. Not far from the hotel, there were many people running in the park — young men and women, as well as older folks, all invigorated.
