Chapter 6 - 006: Loving You for a Lifetime (1)

Upon returning via taxi to the Summer Family's villa situated in the suburbs, Tara Summer's phone showed thirty-four missed calls; she hadn't received any due to her phone being on silent.

After getting out of the car, from a distance, she saw a tall figure leaning against the iron gate. Tara's clouded mood instantly disappeared, her eyes and face were full of smiles as she looked at the figure.

"Brother George!" she called out, and then started running towards the gate.

George Summer, leaning against the iron gate, looked up when he heard her. His deep, dark eyes brightened upon seeing the young girl, as if stars had fallen into their depths, brilliant and dazzling, making the night sky behind him appear dull in comparison.

"Tara..." George walked towards her, catching her delicate shoulders, his face filled with anxiety. "Didn't you say you were going for a walk? Why did you take so long to come back? You have no idea how worried your brother was?"

"I went to the mall," Tara said, smiling at George's frowning expression, choosing not to let him know about the ordeal she'd faced that night. She was almost assaulted - telling her brother would only cause more worry!

"So..." George noticed the new beige-coloured dress she was wearing, "So you bought a new dress and wore it home?"

"Yes, do you like it?" she nodded with an expectant expression.

George didn't say anything, he loosened his grip on her shoulders, folded his arms and stroked his chin, looking at her delicate, pale face.

The exquisite, soft-faced, beautiful girl glistened under the advanced fabric made from silk-like chiffon dress and scarf, further emphasizing her refined elegance. She was like an other-worldly sprite that had fallen before him, causing him to hold his breath.

"You don't like it?" Seeing that he remained silent, Tara was disappointed, and the small smile on her face gradually faded.

"Haha." George pulled her close and walked into the gate with her, "I like it. Our Tara looks beautiful in anything, and brother likes it most."

"Brother George..." Tara tightened her grip on his shirt, a deep look of dependence in her eyes.

George Summer, yes, she depended on him. It had been this way since childhood, and had become a habit.

"Let's go, let's go home." George smiled at her, his strong arm wrapped tightly around her. Tara responded with a deep look of her own. Under the cold moonlight of the fifteenth night, the two walked towards the villa together...

The Summer family, though not the top elite in Night City, owned a listed company that mainly dealt with real estate.

Grandmaster Summer, Ethan Summer, started from scratch and through his relentless effort and decisive approach, he managed to carve out a place for himself in the business world. However, twenty years ago, his only son, Zahir Summer, died in a car accident. Coincidentally, that was the very night Tara was born.

Grandmaster Summer was so furious and upset that he fainted. Upon waking, he became more moody and cold, his usually stern face terrifying everyone into silence.

The Summer family had no male heirs. Zahir and his wife, Victoria Saber, only had a daughter. Sadly, after giving birth to their eldest daughter, Victoria was unable to conceive again.

Grandmaster Summer's old-fashioned idea of only passing down his legacy to a male heir caused Zahir to cave in to his demands, thus, he sought to have a child with another woman.

He met Tara's mother, Josie Reed. He was smitten at first sight and they ended up together.

Victoria was heartbroken. Their marriage had initially been a political alliance, but Zahir had been affectionate towards her after their marriage. Now that her husband had a new love, she felt like she was plunged into hell.

Especially after Josie became pregnant, with no regard for societal criticism, Grandmaster Summer brought her into the Summers family, without any title or share of course, yet Josie did not hold any grudges or complaints.
