Tick, tock, she wasn't sure how much time had passed when the sound of footsteps suddenly echoed in her ears. Tara Summer recognized that there must be at least three people.
Her body tensed up instantly as she sat upright, alertly searching for the source of the sound, her elegant eyebrows furrowed tightly.
"Who's there!?" Hearing the creaking noise of a door opening, Tara Summer defensibly turned toward the source of the sound, her small face hardened.
The footsteps suddenly stopped. After a silence that lasted quite a while, just as she thought the people had left, a heavy step headed her way.
Tick, tock, one step, two steps, three steps, the newcomer stopped. Tara Summer was startled; she instinctively tilted her head up and even through the darkness, she could feel a pressuring aura.
She frowned, guessing the man must be tall and perhaps burly too.
