"I..." Tara Summer opened her mouth but hesitated for three seconds, then responded with a slight smile, "I'm willing to put effort into this marriage regardless of why we were initially brought together. Now, I wish our ties to each other aren't a burden but a connection, the bond between a husband and wife!"
She intended to face the marriage that had brought them together seriously, hoping that one day, they could become like everyone else - caring for each other, liking each other, and staying together.
"I'm glad...very glad to hear that." Madam Yancey, lying on the large bed, abruptly opened her eyes. Her voice was raspy but firm. She turned her head to look at Tara Summer, "So, you are Tara Summer, right?"
"Yancey... mother." Summer quickly reframed.
Madam Yancey nodded, her pale face had regained some color. She looked at Summer intently, and after a while, extended her hand towards her.
Summer stepped forward to hold it and squatted down to keep eye level with her.
