Liam Yancey's muscular chest was right in front of Tara Summer's face, so close her nose was almost touching it. She stared, scarcely daring to breathe.
"Stop!" When he touched her, Tara's back pressed firmly against the bed, not letting him move freely, her brows knitted in tension.
Her body started trembling as memories surged into her mind like a sea wave. Fear gripped her as she recalled the agonizing pain, her body shrinking back, her eyes full of resistance.
"Liam Yancey, stop!" Tara shrieked, her face pale, her body shaking even more violently. She began to plead as she shook her head, "No! No! Please, don't... It hurts!"
Liam paused, looking up at her. He finally understood her resistance was not due to her disliking his touch, it was because she was scared of the pain!
His eyes flickered as he gazed down at her pale cheeks and frightened eyes. Indeed, that night he'd lost his reason and had not considered her feelings.
