Chapter 14 - Dayos' Ramblings

[Day]

This Operation has done everything to test my patience. Everything has either gone wrong or messed up my plans, requiring even more time and resources to be expended. Thankfully, mother seems to be ignorant or oblivious to the exorbitant amount of money I've already had to funnel through shady deals and backhand negotiations.

Everything was all planned to the dot; everything was laid out and apportioned to its specific date; and everyone was trained or being trained for the week when the Empress' tour would commence. Then that brat, Samina, decided to grab my H-band and steal all my data on Operation: Black Orchid; going as far as divulging these secrets to her grandmother, the High Menyott of the Creyatholven of Puritia (a.k.a. Menyott of the Holy Tomb). Thanks to her meddling, the Operation had to be moved; and that's why I'm here on Cragholven.

The planet's Federal District was silent, save for the engines of cruisers and vehicles on the sky-lanes above. It was early in the morning, around 3 o'clock, so we had time to set up and prepare before we executed the Operation. The apartment complex the target resided in was huge, one of the largest in Crusavia, and having a residence on the 124th level? Hmph. The files and intel gathered said the target's family were poor Levelian immigrants, and they would normally be relegated to the lower levels of Cragholven, but not this family.

It's funny how they've tried to hide their lives, lifestyle, and identities; but nothing hides from the Imperis Battavyesch, not even my aunt and her commonfolk husband. They didn't think I would recognize them when I walked through their living room, but the shock and horror on their faces when I called them... It gave me pure delight. Call me a sadist, but seeing people cower just makes my day.

One thing though, the target wasn't found. The main objective of the damn operation was not there. I had to order my men to search the building. And when they did find her, she just magically disappeared. How? How does someone just suddenly disappear? How did three members of the Imperis Bordrois not catch up to her? Just how?! What a load of chavreck piss...

Nevermind, we'll track her down. No matter what, we have to get her. I don't care what it takes. If we have to turn the entire Federal District upside down or if we have to kill her family, then so be it.
