"But my answer is no." He said with a simple smile.
He had no interest in fighting for a Sect. The Main Continent isn't his ambition. If needed, one day, he would rather expand his Faction in the Main Continent than join anyone else's Faction.
At this point, neither Anna nor James looked surprised. The conversation leading up to this point had already made them guess his answer. If he had said yes, then they would have been very surprised.

"Then we won't waste our time here any longer." James feared that if he stayed here any longer, then he might not be able to control his anger any longer and end up saying something disrespectful which would only lead to his suffering.
Though he was arrogant and looked down on the cultivators from the barren continents, he wasn't an idiot. As a grown man with common sense he perfectly knew his position in this situation.
In the Main Continent, he would have left Aditya crippled.
