Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Library Of The Beginner

1245 PCE

The city was alive with sounds of laughter, feet, and horses moving over the cobblestone streets. The population of Dementir was out in full force enjoying the markets and the warmth that accompanied the glow of the sun, unhindered on its journey towards the earth. A tall figure cloaked in black slid through the crowds. He moved efficiently and with purpose. Until he neared his destination. He paused as he admired the building in front of him.

Marble steps led to a tall square building with white pillars surrounding its entrance. At the top in large letters stood 'Library of the Beginner'.

The man entered the building.

An endless number of shelves filled the great hall and an equal number of people perused these shelves each looking for a book that would send them on a journey, just like the person in whose honour the library was built. No sight could fill the man's heart with more joy.

As he slowly walked down the centre of the hall he reached the end. Before him stood a tall statue carved from stone. It depicted a young man with an adventurous spirit, a spear clasped in his right hand pointing downwards, the statue, clothed in an ornate set of armour, lined with gold, and the finest silk hung on its back. A set of books stood at its feet. The man gazed upon the statue before placing a bouquet of flowers at its feet. His moment of peace was interrupted by a young woman's greeting.

"Here again, Crow?" she asked as she approached him, a large smile plastered on her face, she had light red hair, moving gently in the air as the flames on the ends flickered.

"Is a father not allowed to visit his son?" Crow replied "It's been a long time young one. I'm sure you miss him just as much as I do"

"Of course" the young woman replied, "No matter how much time passes family will always be missed"

The pair spent some time reminiscing in front of the statue before leaving the hall.
