He just stared at her as she slept, her long lashes fell on her face, her lovely brown hair was scattered on her pillow. Both her hands where on her stomach as she slept facing the ceiling.
Arnold took that to study her, seriously, he wasn't good at complimenting people, it's been ages since he did that. But he couldn't do away with the fact that she was a beauty goddess . Each time he saw her he felt an ice melt in his iced heart. Arnold never loved anyone. The women that he always had with him were just there for fun and nothing else, he had no sort of feelings for any of them, no matter how they tried to please him, he just wouldn't come to like them. Yet he wondered what made Jenna different from the rest, he seemed to like having her around. Was it out of pity? Was what he felt for her just pity, because she was an orphan and was alone? .
He stared at the wall as he was completely lost in thought, he didn't even realized that an hour had passed. Arnold certainly, could stay an hour or two looking at one direction lost in thought. Most times people around him wondered if actually he was human.
Jenna slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Arnold. Who sat beside her.
She gently adjusted, she wanted sitting up. Arnold snapped out as he turned to her.
Hey, hey, easy there. He went to her as he held her shoulders.
He immediately turned to his left and then he poured out water in a glass.
Here, water. He held the glass to her mouth.
She gently placed her hands on his as she sipped looking at his eyes through the glass.
Why was he being caring all of a sudden? She thought as she moved her lips away from the glass and smiled.
Arnold gently held the glass to her mouth,
Want more? He asked.
No, I'm okay. She felt really strange getting the treatment she received from Arnold, he was never like that.
Suddenly the name Jenna echoed in her ears, she remembered she tried opening her eyes when she blacked out but she just couldn't.
He knows my name? That was the first time she heard him say her name.
Mister Arnold.? She called and he immediately turned to her.
You don't think I'm crazy, do you? She asked with questioning eyes.
He hesitated, but then said. I don't know.
I really did see that lady, it was real this time, I don't know why she keeps appearing to me. She paused.
She might just want me staying far from this house. She might be your wife or probably your girlfriend, she might be jealous thinking that I'd steal you away, but I've got no bad intentions at all. Arnold saw truth in her eyes for a moment he stared at her as she spoke, then he chuckled.
I've got no wife, he paused. Then continued, I've got no girlfriend, and I've got no woman in my life. Jenna who stared down at her hands, slowly brought her face up to face him, while his eyes were already on her.
She didn't know what to say, she just looked stunned, her eyes went through his gorgeous face and his hot body.
How is it possible for this man not to have a lady in his life? She looked at him, she was immediately taken aback.
Hhow is that even possible.. she asked with her eyes not leaving his. At this point she really wanted to know him more, she wanted to know what troubled him, she wanted to be kind to him, after all he was a nice man, why was he trying to hide it?.
I DON'T LOVE. He said straightly as he looked away.
Jenna was completely stunned, her brows were knotted together as she stared at him in shock.
But.. you're a nice man, ain't you? She carefully asked avoiding his cold glares.
I'm not. He turned to her again.
Jenna tried to convince herself that he was lying, but his eyes said the opposite. He looked really serious , he definitely wasn't joking. She saw truth in his eyes.
If you ain't nice you wouldn't have helped me, only nice people do nice things, you're a nice man.. she said bashfully.
I'm not close to being nice, once you get to know me, you'll stay away from me, you wouldn't want to ever look at me or even live in my house.
Those words shook her, what was he? She said inwardly, but no she wouldn't want to make him feel she was already afraid of him, she knew he was lonely and she just wanted to make him feel happy again.
I wouldn't, you're a nice man, I like the person you are. Saying those words she looked into both his eyes to see if he'd show any emotions, but no, he showed nothing, but a cold, sad, confused look on his face.
Don't ever like me, don't try to, because I'll only end up hurting you, I don't love, I never have and never will, it's my destiny.
He paused then looked at her, she looked really scared and confused as though the man in front of her was some sort of demon. She averted her gaze as she was lost in thought.
Scared already? He grinned. She immediately snapped as she stared at him.
No, I'm not scared of you. I never will. She said not totally sure.
Arnold was taken back by her words, how sure was she?
Jenna on her own part said that just to make him feel better, just to make him believe he had some good in him, because right now what he was, is total darkness, now her mission was to make this nice man see some good in himself, and try to convince him that he could actually love and care for a person, she hoped God sends a perfect person for a perfect man like him.
Pfft.. fine then.. he got up from the bed and was about reaching the door when she spoke.
Please stay.. she spoke looking at his nice physique while his back faced her.
I.. don't want to be all alone in this room tonight, I'm really scared. She hoped he'd stay.
Arnold slowly turned to face her. Then nodded. He walked back, he gently sat on a couch and then laid comfortably with his head resting on his arm, and with the other above his head as he looked up to the ceiling.
Ashlyn felt strange, he was doing her a favor, she shouldn't make him feel uncomfortable , seeing him lying on the couch she just knew he wasn't comfortable.
Please come stay here, she hope he'd listen.
To her surprise he did. He carefully stood up and walked to the bed.
He sat and then laid at the other end of the bed, while Jenna laid at the other, they backed each other.
She found it hard to sleep, she was scared to close her eyes, she was scared to see that woman again in her dreams.
Arnold could hear her breathe heavily, he quickly opened his eyes.
Are you unable to sleep? He asked not turning to her.
Yes, yes I can't sleep. She blinked.
Scared? He asked and immediately Jenna knew he grinned even if she didn't see him, she still knew when he did that.
Not of you, but of the woman. I'm scared I might see her again.
You wouldn't see her anymore, because I'm here with you. And she's scared of me. He turned to face her back, she wore a transparent black lingerie, the rest of her body was covered with the big white blanket .
You don't even know her. She turned to face him, their eyes met again, she didn't know
He was already staring at her.
She quickly turned back , Gosh!!! Why did I turned to look? She cursed inwardly.
Arnold could only grin at her behavior
Just get to sleep now. He turned back.
Mmm..okay. She thought about things and then she slowly traveled to her dream land.
And yes, Arnold was right. She didn't dream of The scary woman , was it possible that she was scared of Arnold, that was why she didn't appear?
