Chereads / The Tale of Damonous / Chapter 2 - Chapter One|| Eventful Coincidence

Chapter 2 - Chapter One|| Eventful Coincidence

They say Fate plays a very important role in our lives making us think that the world we live in is small.

I'll be the one who tells you that it is not.

Fate makes us think this way. It's what leads us to our futures the same way a spider would create its web. Each line connected with the other creating memories, friends, and loved ones, leading us to the people we are fated to meet. Creating our lives and tangling our fates and destinies with one another.

Isn't it strange how the most memorable of memories come from the most unexpected moments?

How just one small disfunction in your life can change your entire future.

Well, at least that's what happened to mine.

Perhaps some would argue that my fate was an eventful coincidence, others would think that it was just an eventuality that could have easily been avoided.

But now that I think about it... perhaps I was fated to meet with these people, and if I had not met them the way I did then fate would find another way.

What made it harder for fate was that society had destroyed the mere idea of equality replacing it with hierarchies. If you were rich you would be amongst the rich, waiting like a princess who waits for her prince.

But what if you were poor like me?

You'd lose everything.

Still, a naive little girl like me didn't see that. A stupid and naive girl like me might I add.

Naive for thinking that people would accept me in a place and world like this. How stupid to think that a ravishing man like him would ever come to like such a fool like me. I knew that now as I stared at his symmetrical face feeling nothing but heartbreak.

Slowly. So slowly I walk to the hospital doors to her room. With a trembling hand, I opened it.

"Mom I'm here" I call out.

But there wasn't an answer...

A heart like mine is not brave nor is it big. It is not cruel either. It was never strong at all. I keep it within this iron cage for a reason. Breathe on it wrong and I will die.

She made her last smoothie and gave it to her customer smiling.

"Thank you, come again next time,"

She waited until the customer left for the door sipping on her usual strawberry smoothie. She sighed and checked the time.

8 PM.

She put on her headphones as she listened to music from her phone. The only expensive thing she had owned. It was time for her to go home. She takes off her apron and undid her ponytail, her natural locks fall to her lower back. Her brown eyes looked at the time.

She internally groaned.

"Another one hour long walk." She grumbled to herself. She shrugged on her oversized hoodie shielding her away from the cold.

She walked through the poetic town of Paris. A beautiful place especially under the star-lit night. She walked past the beautiful Tour Eiffel. She lived in a place of riches. However unfortunately for her, she was one of the poor ones. Even though she was a true beauty and people knew it. They never sent her a second glance, knowing her condition with money.

The rich stayed amongst the rich, afraid of losing so much of a penny if they dared to fraternize with the poor.

"Talia" A girl had called.

Still she had not answered, too engrossed to her music to pay attention to the voice.

"Talia-" The girl had said again this time more irritably.

Gritting her teeth and having enough she stormed towards her and snatched one of her headphones out of her ear.

"Talia!"

Talia jumped out of shock. She pulled her headphones out of her ears. She turned around trying to find who called her. She rolled her eyes in annoyance once she saw her. Leah. An acquaintance however they weren't that close. Their mothers were once close.

Some would say sisters, but life drifts people away.

"What?" Talia asks. Leah walked up to Talia holding a plastic bag. "Here it's from my mother to yours. Don't think too much of it" She says rolling her eyes. After they drifted apart and had grown Leah began to hate Talia. Though the poor girl hadn't have known the slightest clue why.

Oblivious to the envy Leah held for this girl's beauty.

She nods her head not bothered to deal with cruel people tonight. She turned and left continuing to walk into the darker side of Paris. Where to her luck was where she lived.

"What do you mean Zayn ran off!" Snarled Lady Vera slowly growling her dark eyes darkening into an onyx black shade. Elisé her daughter typed away busily on her phone. "I don't know and nor do I care," She said bluntly. Vera glared at her. Elisé rolled her pretty blue eyes.

"Relax mother" She sighed closing her phone and flipping her hair over her shoulder in the process. "Damonous is going after him as we speak" She explains in annoyance before leaning onto the black leather couch.

"Good. We don't need another scandal of him being on the loose. If another pack finds out his stupidity we're doomed." Vera Mumbled.

Elisé rolled her eyes, used to her mother's habit of overdramatizing things.

Elisé turned her attention to the maid who walked in holding the cups of Tea. Vera rose one perfectly arched brow as she took it out of the maids hold before she had taken a sip.

"Is this what you call tea? It tastes like it's been urinated!" She snarls throwing the glass cup to the floor sharp fragments of glass shattered on the marble floors.

The Maid who worked for three years was used to the House wife's beastly and wolfish manners.

Elisé's smirk doesn't go unnoticed.

The Maid took out her notepad and pen and began to write. She had a disability in speaking. She let her Vera read.

'You asked for Chamomile Tea Mrs. Medici. I only did what you asked.'

Vera rolled her eyes.

"Black Tea then" She demands.

The maid nodded her head and cleaned up the broken fragments of glass and walked away. Finishing her task she gave Mrs. Medici her wanted tea and her shift for the day was over. She placed the cups on the counter for the next maid to clean them up and she turned on her heel walking towards the door. She took out her phone calling her daughter. Only her voice seemed to soothe her.

"Hello? Mom?"

The Mother tapped away on her phone typing as her daughter talked.

Talia, are you done with your shift? Where are you?

"I'm done with my shift I'm only minutes away from home" She replied.

Relived, the mother typed to her beautiful young daughter.

'Okay, Talia, stay safe and cover your hair with your hoodie, don't bring any attention to yourself. The streets aren't safe at night.' The mother texts.

"Yes Mom, I love you," She says.

I love you too...

I clutched the phone to my chest resuming into listening to one of my favorite songs.

Real Friends. I chuckled. As if a person like me could ever have one. I walked looking up at the stars which stood above the sky of France. I walked amongst the peacefully quiet night ignoring the creepy houses on my sides which seemed fit to film a gruesome death for a horror movie. I shuddered at the thought but continued to walk.

"Damn it, Damn it, Damn it, Damn it!!" I jump at the sound of running footsteps.

I turn behind me to see a young and handsome boy somewhat about my age sprinting amongst the night. He seemed to be running for hours. Tired, he dropped down on his knees panting. I look towards the night path to my home. I then look back at the panting boy.

I rolled my eyes taking off my headphones.

Sue me for being a nice person.

I walk up to him and bent sitting on my knees on the floor in front of him. "You okay there?" I ask sarcastically. "Perfectly F-Fine" He says still panting rapidly. I stare at the boys attire through judgmental eyes.

Who wears jeans and a shirt on a cold night like this? If I didn't give it to him he'd be sick. I sighed in defeat taking off my hoodie and putting it on him. It was ten times larger than my size so it fit him perfectly it was even still big on him. "Thanks," he said raising an eyebrow. I merely shrugged. That was the boy lifted his head.

What was a guy like him doing in such a broke neighborhood like this one? He had the messiest blonde locks almost white. His eyes were the brightest of blue of which I've ever seen, contrasting against his rosy shade skin. He wore an expensive silver ring on his pinkie finger.

A charming grin slowly stretched through the boys pink lips, however it wasn't genuine. Something about him screamed mischief.

"What's your name Beautiful," He says flirtatiously. I roll my eyes.

"Andddd I'm out-," I say standing and spinning to leave.

He grabbed my wrist and a flash of dread washed over me.

"Hey I gave you my hoodie-" I warned my eyes wide.

He chuckles playfully.

"I'm only going to give you a gift to thank you for your kindness, I mean no harm" He says through a charming smile.

"Kindness doesn't need a gift when you mean it" I simply said tilting my head to the side.

The boy chuckles. A melodic sound.

"I'm Zayn," He says. I lift an eyebrow.

"You do realize this is the moment you tell me your name right?" He playfully mocked.

"I am one who believes in the term stranger danger," I say in honest bluntness.

Zayn laughed, he did that a lot I noticed.

He took off his silver ring and gave it to me.

My eyes widen as I attempt to give it back to him.

"Are you crazy-"

"Ah, Ah, Ah, hush now and accept your gift in peace" He says.

I could only glare.

"Take it before I make you" I warn. He roared with laughter. "Oooh, I'm so scared!" He said in a fibbed gasp before his bizarre fit of laughter.

"Take. It. Now." I demand.

Zayn rolls his eyes.

"Fine, I'll take it next time I see you," He says and turns on his heel.

How can someone foolishly waste money like this? A gust of wind rushes past me as I try to grab his wrist but I flinch and back away after I see another guy much taller than Zayn come out of nowhere.

Where the hell did he come from?

He grabbed Zayn and thew him a punch so powerful he falls on his knees. I watched as blood drips from the side of the Blonde's lips. My eyes widened.

"Hey Stop-"

But my words seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. I watch as Zayn quickly regains his stance then punches the strange man on the jaw as he laughed.... Laugh? Was he insane?!!

The strange guy that came out of thin air then pins Zayn to the wall and bangs his head on the brick walls. Hard enough to make some pieces crumble down. I watch as Zayn's bright eyes slowly and lazily blink. One more punch and Zayn would surely lose consciousness. I quickly grab the mysterious man's arm. "I said stop!" I scream.

He tilts his head to the side enough only for me to see his bruised Jaw. His Jawline was extremely sharp my fingers itched to trace it, but I couldn't exactly see his face.

He wore a long expensive black trench-coat which reached to the floor as his hair was dark. Almost jet black and identical to the night sky.

"And how exactly would someone as small and weak as you make me, human?" His deep voice spoke.

Something foreign awakens from beneath me once hearing his voice. It was sinful. For it was soft and toneless. Smooth as velvet, however there was an underlying darkness that simmered underneath his calm tone. A blanket of power and authority which radiated through the night.

I mentally cursed myself before I pulled myself together.

He was human too anyways.

His hand then reaches for Zayn's neck. However I was quick to grab it in the nick of time.

"I thought I told you to-" My eyes then widen as electrifying sparks crackled from the hand that touched him. He too must have felt it considering how I felt his powerful gaze snap towards me. I didn't dare look up.

It was then I noticed the scarlet shade of blood which poured into his hands as his knuckles were bloodied and bruised, they showed evidently due to the paleness of his skin.

"What the hell happened to you?" I scowled.

"Why the hell do you care?" He asks, I couldn't identify what emotion he was feeling since once again his voice was toneless giving me no clues.

I simply shrugged.

"Being nice wouldn't-"

My breath hitches as I finally lift my head finally looking at the man who stood before me.

"-hurt anybody..." I whispered still looking into those beautiful eyes.

They were the same shade of an Alexandrite gemstone. A beautiful sight. They seemed to slightly glow in the night as they stared back at me with such intensity, I blamed it on the cold. I must have been hallucinating. However I couldn't really see him clearly since it was so utterly dark.

How could one own such eyes?

My cheeks warmed as something flickered within those Alexandrite eyes. However the emotion left his eyes as quickly as they came, I wondered if I even hallucinated it.

He looked at me with a lifeless expression and I quickly shifted my gaze away from him. I tried looking at anything. Anything other than him. However once he spoke I couldn't help but look up.

"Kindness never hurts anyone but yourself. People take advantage of people who show Kindness." He says cocking his head to the side allowing a dark strand to fall to his face. I sighed looking at his bleeding hand and I the look to see Zayn's bleeding lip. I grabbed his hand.

"Follow me" I mumbled in annoyance.

His blood mattes my palm. I cringed.

I turned to check on Zayn who follows from behind. However I then took notice that the strange dark haired boy was looking at our intertwined eyes. However he didn't seem to pull away. Maybe he wanted to but would have felt rude if he did.

Feeling completely and utterly nervous I quickly let go of the guy's hand. I pulled a strand of my hair and placed it behind my ear with my clean hand.

"F-Follow me" I mumbled.

I couldn't explain it in words, he... he had this aura, a powerful sense of authority that hung around him of which I could not explain.

It was intimidating.

I lead them to the path of darkness. Where danger strived and where the poor begged. The police had basically given up on this place because of its criminal records. To the point where it had become a place where murderers hide and Drug dealers live. From what I've heard there seemed to be dangerous animal attacks here.

Wolf bites, hell a bunch of beheaded bodies was caught in here. But I didn't care. From the corner of my eye, I could see the two strange boys follow me. The dark-haired boy's eyes judged the neighborhood in silence. However I did not feel ashamed, I had no reason to be.

I had a bed under a roof. That was enough for me.

I didn't need jewels, I didn't need a pillared palace. As long as I was living somewhere... I was fine. I was raised to think that way given to the circumstances of my lack of money.

I sighed and finally reached home. I unlocked the already open door. There was only one key. And to my luck, my mother had it with her today. The two boys followed inside, however I was quick to speak before their shoes touched the entrance of the house.

"We have a no shoe policy here." I was quick to explain.

I point at the slippers which sat on the entrance of the door. "You can put those on" I stated.

I ignored their exchange of looks and the feeling of uneasiness that I felt then walked towards the cupboard and took out some bandages.

"You know you should lock your door," Said dark haired man in annoyance. The first emotion I've heard out of him. I bit my lip. His voice was sinful to me. I shuddered. I'd do anything to hear it again. I shook my head.

'Shut up' I mentally grumbled to myself.

I walk towards the two boys the corner of my lips lift in amusement as I stared at the slippers they wore. However I was quick to compose myself before any of them had noticed.

"Well I prefer it to be unlocked," I say bluntly.

"Now sit down" I ordered leaving no room for questions or objections.

The guy rose an eyebrow. I mirrored his actions with a challenging stare.

"I walked you all the way here to bandage your hand," I said. "If you don't treat the wound it will scar" I say my eyes looking at the bruise on his jaw and the dried blood on his hand.

He rolls his eyes and sat down on the couch. I smiled, seemingly satisfied that he listened.

I then walked towards him. He spread his legs as I stood between them before I kneel towards him arranging the ointments and bandages on my side.

I take out some liquid my mother always used on me as a child and wet it on the white cotton. I then turned to face him.

I suddenly noticed how close I was to him. My confidence seemed to have disintegrated once I finally look at the adonis before me clearly...

For his beauty gave my eyes no mercy.

He had piercing almond shaped eyes. A strange mix between an Amethyst shade of violet and a sapphire shade of blue. Like two priceless stones glaring into my soul. He had dark hair one may even confuse as black as they were naturally shaped to perfection. The darkness of his hair contrasted against his skin glowing in their clear and milky color. My eyes dart to his lips. For they were pale as the crimson shade of his own blood smudged on the corner of his lips.

I was in a trance.

I had no control of myself. It was as if I was struck in compulsion, as my mind seemed to go blank. I lift my hand up cupping the side of his wounded face, my thumb wipe off the blood from his lips, lingering on the soft flesh.

The beauty he held was so inhumane...

His eyes suddenly glow in a shade of violet at my touch. A low and animalistic growl erupts from him.

I blink back to reality and quickly withdraw my hand and look away from him.

What was with me?

Growls? Glowing eyes?

I was hallucinating too much today. Was I running a fever?...

My cheeks burned there was no doubt I looked like a cherry at that moment. I clear my throat feeling his curious gaze on me as my trembling hands began to work. I poured some of the ointment on the white wool before my trembling hands raise to meet his bruised jaw. My eyes deeply focused at the purple bruise to avoid those eyes...

I dabbed the wetted cloth on his jaw careful in making sure my fingers never once grazed against his skin.

Once I was done with his jaw I worked on his bruised hand which was matted with dried blood. The minute I touched his hand I flinched feeling tiny pleasurable electric jolts flowing through my veins. I tried oh so miserably to ignore his watchful gaze, however it was all I seemed to think about. I mentally begged my hands to stop trembling.

This man was intimidating...

Taking out a white bandage, I expertly wrapped it around his hand and clipped it shut with a safety pin.

I stare at his wrapped hand for a few moments before I finally lift my head I watched that his beautiful blue eyes were staring into my boring brown ones. He rose an eyebrow taking in my thin and plain white shirt.

He stood up tilting his head down as he watched me stand up as well. I took three quick steps away from him needing some space from him. My mind never worked well whenever I was close to him I had noticed.

He then took off his coat and threw it next to me. I stared at it then back at him blankly. "Don't think too much of it" He simply says in a toneless voice.

"Take it as a thank you gift," He said running his hand through his beautiful dark hair messing it up a little.

What was with these people and gifts? Were they really that careless?

"Hey, belle Daddy Zayn here needs some help" Zayn purrs in attempts to be flirtatious snapping me out of my daze.

I roll my eyes. I get up and throw an ice pack at him. "Well then 'Daddy Zayn' go help yourself."

He scowls grabbing the ice pack before it slid down his chest and sits on the couch.

I smirk at his annoyed expression. I look at the time. My eyes widen It's 10: 30. Mom could be here any minute and I doubt she would want to see the fact that I let in not one but two very attractive and rich men in our home.

"You guys need to leave," I said bewildered.

"Awe but the fun has just begun-" I slap Zayn's head with a magazine I found randomly laying around. I grab the strange guy from his good hand and hold onto Zayn with the other.

"Hey you can't just-" I ignore Zayn's chanting as the stranger remained silent.

I take them outside.

Zayn throws a random card at me and I somehow had managed to catch it.

"Call me!" He yells.

I roll my eyes and shut the door behind me and lean to the door.

I sighed.

What a Day.

I walk and sit on the couch. I watch as the door finally opens. Dread washes over me as I wondered if my mother saw the two strangers. I forced a smile. "Hi mom," I say.

She used her hand signs to communicate.

"Hello, Dear"

I let out the breath I was holding. Her eyes weren't hostile. She didn't see them.

I walk up to her and hug her. She lost her angelic voice from an accident trying to save my life. Unfortunately, she lost her voice box in the process. "How was work?" I asked.

'Eventful, Mrs. Medici's Second Son Zayn got into a fight again. His older brother Damonous ran after him' She explains. I furrowed my eyebrows. Zayn?

My eyes widened once I realized I was still wearing that silver ring. I quickly take it and hid it in my back pocket. My mother turned to face me.

Zayn must be a very popular name in France these days.

'I brought dumplings'

I smiled.

"Let me help you get them ready," I said.
