Chapter 3 - 3. setting up

"My lord, what would you have us do?" the lumberjack asks, kneeling before me

"I want you to take 10 others and begin chopping down these trees and putting them in a pile near the edge of the forest" I direct the lumberjack and his 10 people working under him and they get right off to work immediately

"What about us sire, what are your orders?" the builder asks, kneeling before me as well.

"Get you and your team clearing the land for the foundations of a house, and once you complete one, begin collecting fibers out in the forest. You're a builder, so I'm sure you should be able to handle gathering fibers just fine" i direct the builder to his team.

"Of Course my lord, finding and collecting the needed fibers and clearing the land for a house shall not be a problem at all." the builder tells me, still kneeling with respect, in which I have to signal for him to get up and then he and his team begin working.

System, is it possible to purchase some tents for my citizens, as well as me, from the system shop?

' that is a viable option, do you wish for me to bring up the tent options?'

Yes, bring up the tent options.

Once I saw that a screen once more came out in front of me showing me hundreds of different tents. But I filter it to show my cheapest ones.

(tents)

one person tent: 5SP[extra 2SP for bedroll]

Two person tent: 15SP[extra 5SP for bedrolls]

There was only one way that I thought would be best for now, purchase three- one person tents, with the bedrolls, and ten- two person tents, with bedrolls.

'221SP will be deducted on purchase, do you wish to confirm or decline this purchase'

Confirm purchase

'221SP deducted, remaining: 878SP'

Already prepared, I have my eyes covered as I wait for a few seconds and open them. All the tents are piled neatly in front of me, ready for assembly.

Well, I suppose I can TRY to set these up, no good being unproductive. Faster stuff is set up, the faster we can progress. I then begin the hard and tiring work of setting these tents up, which have no instructions at all.

Several painful hours later, I had finally set up all of the tents. Now, let's see what our production is like. Sye, show kingdom stats please.

(worker/citizen menu)

Ok, that's good, but where did that food come from Sye?

' that would because your citizens took it upon themselves to collect some fruits and berries as they collect the needed fibers, as well as cutting down the trees'

Thankyou Sye, at least they aren't mindless robots that only do the tasks instructed.

'That is true, and the reason behind this, is because they all have souls, they are all taken from the pool of reincarnation. But don't worry, none of them have memories of their past life, the only things they remember are how to do stuff and life properly. As Well as the magic that is tied to their souls which makes them incredibly loyal. so only true, horrible acts of treachery will break this god-tier spell on their souls.'

'Also, be warned, the only reason why they will forget their past lives is because of this spell, so if broken, they will receive the knowledge of their past life.'

Well, its not like i planned on turning them into slaves, the only reason they will be working so hard right now, is because we need to be set up fast and get some real building up. Then once we get a good supply of food, we shall feast. For I believe nothing is better for morale and loyalty than a good feast of food and celebration.

' host is most correct, this should most definitely boost their loyalty and morale. I believe it would be actually necessary, because after working them to the bone, i predict their loyalty to go down, population loyalty is currently 95/100 right now. I believe if you push them through all your plans, it will go down to 50/100, especially since they currently do not have a good food supply.'

'And the food they had collected, most of it they had eaten, that is why you do not have much food.'

I had expected as much, but I do have a question about the settlements. Why are there still zero, even though I have a population and tents set up?

'That would be because you do not yet have a settlement, a settlement is permanent, and what you currently have is only tents. So right now, it is just considered a camp, not a settlement'

Ok, guess that makes sense, so when I have a building built, will it become a settlement then?

'Yes, once your first building is created, your camp will turn into a settlement.'

I nod and open up the kingdom building menu to see what else i can do, i click on the shop menu and i see a blueprint section, so i goto that and it shows me several different categories.

(houses)

(production)

(tools)

(weapons)

(armor)

(defensive structures)

Hmm, let's see, I think looking at the house would be a good idea.

I then open the houses tab and several different ones pop up, ranging from small mud shacks all the way up to huge palaces. I just filter it for small wooden houses, and there was only one and it had a fair price.

Small house blueprint : 400 square feet.

Cost: 100SP

Can be used by specialized builders to construct a sturdy small house.

(construction cost)

80 logs

Sye, please purchase 1 small house blueprint

'Would you like to buy 1 small house blueprint for 100SP, your remaining balance will be 778SP, confirm or decline this purchase'

I instantaneously click on confirm and a rolled up piece of parchment is summoned into the air right in front of me, hovering for a second before falling. Luckily I was able to catch it before it fell to the ground.

I unfold the parchment and it has all the designs and instructions to build a small house. I immediately roll it back up and head out to look for the head builder.
