Chapter 32 - KNOWING HER PAST

Eldrick and Ozora reached the house. Rachel and Jacob had not slept, their habits had not changed even though their four children had grown up. As parents they always waited for all their children to come home, after that they would calm down when they entered the bedroom. If Rachel coaxed her husband into the bedroom before Ozora and her siblings returned home, she would be overwhelmed because Jacob would be pacing and not closing his eyes in bed.

Jacob and his wife were surprised to see Ozora come home with her future husband. "Eldrick, why are you here? aren't you in Japan?" Jacob asked, raising one eyebrow and frowning.

"Yes, future father-in-law. I had to break the agreement because Ozora needed me. It seems your daughter misses me so much because I can't stop thinking about her," El replied jokingly.

Ozora was embarrassed to hear her future husband's words but she could not argue Eldrick's words. Ozora was grateful because Eldrick came on time and she could get peace in the man's arms.

"Honey, you should take a shower and get some rest. You must be very tired," Eldrick said to Ozora. In front of his future parents-in-laws, Eldrick stroked Ozora's curls and called her honey.

"Yes," Ozora replied curtly. She wanted to go straight to her bedroom and immediately soak in the bathtub to cool her suddenly hot body. The sweet act and affectionate words that came out from Eldrick's mouth made Ozora's face red with embarrassment. Ozora obeyed Eldrick's words and she immediately said good night to her parents.

"What really happened? You haven't answered my question yet," Jacob asked again because his future son-in-law only answered jokingly.

"I miss your daughter, that's why I am here," Eldrick said, because it was the real reason he came back to Ireland.

"That means you broke the agreement you made with Ozora. What if Ozora cancels your wedding?" Rachel asked. She was worried that Ozora would use Eldrick's return as an excuse to refuse the marriage.

"Relax, ma'am. Ozora will never cancel our wedding. All agreements are cancelled. From today I can meet her and contact her every day. Isn't that amazing?" Eldrick answered confidently, making his future parents-in-laws look at each other.

"Is it true?" Rachel asked. She became curious to hear the whole story from her future son-in-law.

"Yes, ma'am. Ozora has already canceled it."

"Thank God. Finally the stubborn girl had changed. You must have tried hard to melt her heart. You are great, Eldrick," Rachel complimented then she looked at her husband with a smile.

"When are you going back to Japan? Are you two going to hasten your wedding?" Jacob asked.

"Tomorrow I have to go back to Japan. There is a meeting that can not be postponed. Regarding marriage, I will still respect Ozora's decision. We are getting married in three months," Eldrick explained.

"Thank you, Eldrick. Our daughter is stubborn and always acts like she doesn't have a problem but in reality she is very lonely. You already know that Ozora is our adopted daughter. Even though we already treat her like a biological child, she still has that feeling of loneliness. I hope you can make Ozora happy. As a father, I entrust her to you," Jacob said to his future son-in-law.

"I will always take care of Ozora and make her happy. Ozora will also be loved by my parents and sister," Eldrick said confidently. He knew his family very well. Eldrick was sure Ozora would feel comfortable with them.

They exchanged stories about many things, then Eldrick looked at the faces of his future parents-in-law in turn. He wanted to ask this but he did not know the right words to start.

"Sir, I want to ask you something about Ozora. If I don't ask this now, I will always think about it," Eldrick said boldly because he had to get the answer before he went back to Japan.

"What do you want to ask about Ozora?" Jacob asked. He saw the look on Eldrick's face was very serious.

"Has Ozora had a bad experience in the past?" Eldrick asked. The question made Jacob look at his wife.

"Why are you asking that? did something bad happen to Ozora?" Jacob asked, trying to respond to his future son-in-law's curiosity.

Eldrick told the reason why he returned to Ireland and Ozora's excessive fear. "I met some people who were afraid of the dark but Ozora's fear made me anxious. I want to make sure my future wife is okay," Eldrick explained.

Jacob took a deep breath. He decided to tell Eldrick everything. Sooner or later Eldrick would know about Ozora's past. Jacob also wanted to know how much Eldrick loved his daughter.

"The orphanage owner already told us that Ozora's stepfather always abused her. That's why Ozora's biological mother left her in an orphanage. When Ozora was 15 years old, she was sexually abused by an orphanage security guard," Jacob explained. He found it hard to tell the two most painful things in their adopted daughter's life but as a husband-to-be Eldrick must know about it.

"Sexual abused?" Eldrick gasped. It turns out that there were many things he didn't know about his future wife.

"Is that the reason why Ozora always refuses men and marriage?" Eldrick asked. Finally he found the answer to his question.

"One of them but the bitter experience of living with her mother and stepfather was also very influential. Ozora always saw how her biological mother was tortured by her stepfather. Many times that man also called Ozora an illegitimate child," Jacob continued his explanation then they were silent for a few seconds.

"I should have known from the start. I didn't think that all this time my future wife had suffered too much," Eldrick said regretfully. If he had known this from the start, he would have paid more attention to Ozora.

"I think Ozora has already told you everything, that's why I didn't tell you. Maybe she is afraid that you will leave her after knowing all about her past," Jacob replied.

"How could I leave her? If I know from the start I would treat Ozora much better. She has suffered a lot."

"Are you sure with your decision? You two are not married yet. There's still time to think about it. Think carefully, Eldrick. I don't want you to regret it because it will cause new bitterness in my daughter's heart," Jacob said firmly.

"There is nothing to think about because I will never regret it. I really love Ozora. After hearing all this, I want to take care of her more," Eldrick replied, staring at Jacob's face with an unwavering look.
